Yellowstone Shuttle Trail Pickup Options
Me and a couple friends are planning on hiking the Belcher River Trail at Yellowstone this August. The trail is apparently about 30 miles long and since it's not a loop trail we would either need to rent 2 cars and drop one on each end of the trail, which seems like a waste of money, or somehow arrange to be picked up at the end of our trip. Does anyone know of a company that would pick us up, as the park apparently does not run any type of transportation. Also, any comments on the Belcher River Trail in general? We were thinking about 4 nights at backcountry campsites. Thanks for your input.

if Bison doesn't spot this and reply bump the thread on monday - he's got a Yellowstone trip planned and may have info to share.

Have fun and share your pics when you get home!

Can't wait for the trip. Maybe someone will have some input about sidetrips on other trails nearby. Thanks.

u might wanna put a little info in your profile too - it'll cut down on the harassment of being called a troll and the like.

I'm hoping to get up to Yellowstone some this summer myself, never been before.

Good advice. I'll do that. Not too familiar with the protocol. A yahoo search took me here. This is right up my alley, though.

Welcome to trail talk mcsherry. Like Roam said put a little information about yourself in your profile. Everybody that shows up here is initally a TROLL. A troll is a person that enters message boards to irritate the people there. We know you are not one but there are several trolls here, mainly on the fuego thread.

Roam also mentioned Bison. He has trips near Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Wind Rivers planned for August and Septmber. I'm trying to get my schedule in order to go on at least one of them. If you want to contact Bison you can post a thread titled "HEY BISON" in the places thread. If he knows anything I'm sure he would try and help. Likely he will troll on in here and find this tread and respond anyway.

Me and two other dudes that teach are planning to hit Yellowstone in August. None of us have ever been before. I'm reading Bill Schneider's "Hiking Yellowstone National Park", great book. The thorofare sounds like it might be a little over my head and that you're feeding yourselves to the grizzlies. How many is Bison looking to add on?

Just he and Embear are signed up right now. I don't know if he has a number in mind but one would think a group of 4 to 8 should be about right.

I see you have your profile up, you are from Penns Woods. I had hoped to make it out to Blue Knob this month for a hike. A friend of mine grew up nearby Blue Knob. Looks out of the question now, maybe over the summer.

Never been to Blue Knob. It's on the other side of the state, about 6 hours away. The Appalachian Trail is less than an hour from me.

How's LA treating you. I was in New Orleans for New Year's. I think I finally recovered.

Hey mcsherry, your in good company in the PA area - there are SEVERAL tt folks up in that neck of the woods.

This is a great site, I've met and hiked with LOTS of people from here - everywhere from PA, to WV, NC and NY to CO. and there's folks from all points in between that I havn't met yet.

Welcome to the crowd.

is it frowned upon to hitchhike in YNP? One or two could hitch and the other two could wait with the packs. You could do this at the begining of the trip so the car is waiting for you upon completion of your trek. Try to figure out which end is more isolated or prone to break-ins
