The Picture Perfect Catskills Hike a Tri p report

“Just a quick note before I go off to work.
This past weekend in the Catskills was perhaps the best weekend of hiking that I have ever had. The weather was unbeleivable! 50-60 during the day with blue skies and in the 20's at night with crystal clear starfilled skies.
We managed to bag 4 of the 3500 peaks Thomas Cole, Blackhead, Black Dome, and Windham High Peak. The first three are in the top 5 for elevation in the Catskills. This gives me a total of 15 3500 peaks.
The company was great as usual, Sacco and Pennsy, thanks for a great weekend.

Just remember postholiing ain't easy!

how many times have i hiked in shorts without a single bug or fly around?

how many times have i took a nap at the top of a mountain wearing the same clothes i hiked up in?

how many times have i camped with dry firewood so plentiful that no one had to go more than 50 ft to "gather" it?

how many times did i have a pennsy along to tend to the fire all night long while i sat on my ass?

the answer my friend, was blowing in the ever so gentle catskill breeze this weekend.”

“and how many times have I been 3 hours late to my mother's birthday party only to hear "I don't blame you for being late. The weather was too nice for you to be inside."

Yeah, I was forgiven and they even saved me dinner. Whewwwwww!!

Of course, I'm heading out now to take my mother out to dinner, just in case.

Nice pics Sacco! (except for the one that shows what happens to a belly when not excercised for 3 months). Mine are still in the camera. It's been a busy week and I'm scrambling to get ready for the weekend.”
