Kerry cites voter intimidation examples
Sunday, April 10, 2005 Posted: 7:37 PM EDT (2337 GMT)

BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- Many voters in last year's presidential election were denied access to the polls through trickery and intimidation, former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry told a voters' group Sunday.

"Last year too many people were denied their right to vote, too many who tried to vote were intimidated," the Massachusetts senator said at an event sponsored by the state League of Women Voters.

...snip...

Kerry also cited examples Sunday of how people were duped into not voting.

"Leaflets are handed out saying Democrats vote on Wednesday, Republicans vote on Tuesday. People are told in telephone calls that if you've ever had a parking ticket, you're not allowed to vote," he said. ...snip.....

For you not 'in the know', like Mr. Kerry, The Onion is a 'fake news' satirical online mag.

Yeah right!

It's funny ... I bet a bunch of the people complaining about the "high" gas prices on the gas thread are liberals too ... who ironically should be very happy about it.

High prices = low consumption = beautiful environment, right?

(of course, they're really not that high, but anything to try to make Bush look bad ... LOL)

Acttually Stove there were news reports of phone calls from people doing that in the days leading up to the election. I assume they were true (hmmm maybe they were inspired by the onion?)

Seems to me that if someone is stupid enough to believe that, they shouldn't be voting anyway.

"...a separate scam last week in Allegheny County, where election officials received a flurry of phone calls about fliers handed out at a Pittsburgh area mall and mailed to an unknown number of homes. The flier, distributed on bogus but official-looking stationery with a county letterhead, told voters that "due to immense voter turnout expected on Tuesday," the election had been extended. Republicans should vote Tuesday, Nov. 2, it said -- and Democrats on Wednesday. A criminal investigation has been launched." \

StoveStomper thinks violations of election laws are "funny".

Um, Pennsylvania voted for Kerry, so whatever fraud was perpetuated did not change the result.

And this does seem a tad milder than punturing the tires of multiple vehicles or shooting into offices.

Go back to chasing parked cars V, the election is over, .. you lost.

Yep and I saw simmilar ones saying If you support Kerry drive with your lights on during the day, and if you support Bush drive with your lights out at night.

If someone is stupid enough to believe, someone else will sell them the brooklyn bridge.

Stove - there is nothing here that shows Kerry to be dim witted. Just cuzz the Onion spoofed doesn not mean it didn't happen - and not just in Penn.

I'm sure it didn't effect the outcome. And, btw - let's not call people names on this thread. You were the one who assumed he got the idea from the Onion and didn't notice the news reports on this at the time of the election.
