manuka, why must you call everyone else an elitist?

Well Sacco,

Check a dictionary for the definition of elitism if you do not already know.

Most people have some talent where they are better than the majority of the population, but only those that have an attitude about their superiority are elitists.

TT does have a few snobs who like to tout their intellectual superiority.

I do not call "everyone else" an elitist, perhaps those who wanted to form a group "calling themselves" Elite Backpackers and a single person who calls another borderline stupid.

that is true, you do not call "everyone else" an elitist. that was hyberbole.

i don't know anyone on here whom i'd call elitist. there people i disagree with, but no one that i think is really an elitist.

i don't think you recognize sarcasm very well.

i know some of the people you've identified as self titled ELITE BACKPACKERS. they're trail sluts who'd hike with just about anyone, anytime. if you think they're elitist than you really are sarastically challenged.

The only ones I owe an apology to are all of you! Yes, the meeting for the scout troop was true. Yes, I parked my car in Park Slope. No, I don't have a Bose system. And, most of all, there was no break-in!

Actually, I concocted this scheme over the weekend and wrote it yesterday. But, it's not all for naught. Aside from the irresistable desire to "smoke out" undesirables like Oryx (yes, I took him off ignore for this thread), I really was curious as to what sort of reactions a story like this would get.

First, a few statements about what I would do if I really did encounter a situation like this. Oh, one other true fact is that I have never been one to get involved in too many conflicts. So, what I said about only having been involved in a few fights in my lifetime is absolutely true. I have managed to steer clear of those types of situations. Now, what would I do? First thing (to Lee's credit), I would not post it on the internet to you bozos! lol. Seriously, I don't know if I would have the gumption to walk up to the guy and do that, especially based on my lack of experience with those sorts of matters. It's something that I would play out in my mind, but probably not in reality. It would be great to catch someone in the act, but i guess I would rather the police take care of it and go through proper channels, should that eventuality be possible. Lots of you hit a common sense point in saying that the stereo would not be worth the risk. Manuka, your intitial post was sort of expected. I did think that I would see some parallel to the gun issue here. And you did not disappoint. Yes, I have always saw your point about arming yourselves in your small towns. But, without going into a debate about gun control, I never have advocated taking your guns away. I have explained how I feel about background checks and the like. But, that's for another thread. Sarge, I don't really know if I would approach this man in the way that was described, probably because the only chance in a city this large, for me to get near this guy, would be in court. Forgiveness is something that is definitely in my heart. But, carrying it out under those circumstances would probably prove impractical. I guess I would have to wrestle with my conscience and see what resulted from that. But, I am not in the situation, so it is a difficult thing to come up with a hard & fast answer to. For the most part, you are a really good bunch of folks! Then, there's Oryx! Thank you, sir! Why? Because you came through exactly as I expected, making a perfect ass of yourself. You were the only one to make this a liberal/conservative issue. You stuck to your tiresome MO, as expected. As it is, I think you represent the worst in America. If I were your father, I wouldn't admit it! And your words proved you to be a bigger hypocrite than ever. You violated every rule of protocol that you accused me of, back when I was still paying attention to you! BTW, genius, the police are not there to protect the public? Sorry, but that went over my head. Enough of you. You are back on ignore after the life of this thread runs out.

Overall, I appreciate the concern for my well-being and it's great to have differing viewpoints. Thanks for tuning in. And thanks for not stoning me as I walk away (ducking)

Nice one, treebeard. I noticed you did not mention how this guy got into your vehicle and you did not respond to the question about car damage.

Was he using your tools from the trunk, too?
