At last!
I had hepatitis A twice when I was a kid (can you say First Need water purifier?) and was always told I could never give blood.

Well, last Friday we had a professional day at the same time as a government organised blood drive by the agency Héma-Québec.

I was feeling all resentful when I entered th school after lunch when it suddenly dawned on me - I've never given hepatitis to a girl fri8end and that has to mean that the A virus is not in my blood stream.

I saw the nurse and told her what I thought and she laughed and asked me how long agfo I had contracted it. When I told her it was over 45 years ago she said there was no problem.

I finally got to give blood and register as a regular donor.

I'm pleased as punch.

Red Cross trying lots of new things

It mentions in the story that they've relaxed some of the donation screening rules, so if you've tried to give blood before and couldn't because of pre-screening problems, you might want to try again.
