Van towing camper hits a car-hauler, goes airborne, and falls 50' off a bridge

This happened on one of the I65 bridges over the Tennessee River near here.

The couple was from Chesterton IN. That is about 20 minutes from me.

The really amazing thing is that they weren't wearing seatbelts and still somehow managed to survive.

They're lucky it didn't happen over the main channel, or they'd just now be getting the bodies out.

Is wearing seat belts mandatory in Tennesse?

In Canada, if someone got into an accident, got hurt or not, and they weren't wearing a seatbelt, the cop can give them a ticket.

Talk about adding insult to injury.

This was in Alabama, and yes, seatbelts are mandatory even here.

Elvin McCool, 46, of Fayetteville, Tenn., the driver of a car-hauling rig that was struck by the van, wasn't injured

Now there's a name for you!
