this is the third and probably final AT thru-hiker trail magic/hiker feed of the year. the next two trips to the trail will be to hike

meet at buena vista family restaurant 9am saturday morning for AYCE mexican breakfast bar. any last minute shopping if necessary, then on to hog camp gap.

directions for those who want to go straight to trail: from the parking area where the AT crosses US 60, head north towards buena vista approximately 1 mile. turn right on hyway 634 (if you're coming thru buena vista, go approximately 8 miles past town and turn left on hyway 634). go approximately 1 1/2 mile. turn right on hyway 755/usfs 48. go 2 or 3 miles to where AT crosses road and park. head north on trail and look for big open area on left.

ive never driven here, this is just what im figuring out by looking at the trail map. i would suggest getting the map if you dont know the area, just in case. its map 5, pedlar ranger district, g. washington natnl forest

i dont have a grill, it would be great if someone could bring one. if someone does, i will bring the meat. i may do something other than hamburger this time, maybe chicken or pork chops. last time on max patch, with all the billions of stars in sight, i was inspired to consider bringing a telescope. there is one i can borrow, it may take some sweet-talking. ill bring other fun and games like frisbee, lawn darts, croquet and whatever else i can find. parTAY!

not sure yet but i may be able to make this. if so, i will bring a grill and some other goodies.

it's an easy access area in the non-winter months. your driving directions are accurate. after you get on 634, the right hand turn is more of a dirt road splitting off to the right (you'll see signs for hiking trails or mount pleasant recreation area or something like that). you'll know when you get to the gap. there is a large open orchard on the left (the AT heads right through it) and the parking area is just passed it. if that parking is full, keep going about 1/2 mile and you'll see the mount pleasant parking area. plenty more there.

hope i can make this one.

I was curious as to how hard it is to get to this site by foot? I have never been to the AT.

I am defintely interested will still have to check with the better half.

well you drive up, park and walk maybe 100 feet unless the upper area is full then you park down the hill a little and walk maybe .1
