it's probably two hour drive from La Plata to York and then a 7-8 hour drive from York to the Smokies. It's about 2 hours closer than the Cumberland Trail trip though.

We could either meet you in York or meet you along i-81 somewhere.

drop me an email with your phone number and I'll give you a call.

I am crushed. I had a class come up wed. thru Fri.It is a major thing and was especially arranged at the last minute. My plan at this point is to leave Friday afternoon and night hike into the shelter. Good idea or bad? I would park at Newfound Gap(if possible.. and have you drop me there on the way back to the cave trail parking. HELP!

yeah, your plan should work. Bummer you will miss Mt. LeConte, but should still be a fun hike.

hey Jack - are you coming with us on the AT this weekend?

I would love to but it looks doubtful. I may have to be at MIR Raceway Sunday if the races get canned due to rain on Saturday. This scenario appears likely. Sorry I havent shipped your bottle yet.

I am eyeing the Old loggers trail trip.

Thanks for the invite.

that's cool. The Old Loggers Path will be a lot of fun. Our butts will be kicked. I think there are some short cuts to take if need be.

want to come up and do the AT with us near Harrisburg this weekend? We're doing another Friday nighter from Bernhisel Bridge on Bernhisel Rd to the Darlington shelter (3-4 miles) friday night and then from the Darlington Shelter to Duncannon on Saturday (11 miles) and then food and beer at the Doyle before heading home.

The plan is to be hiking by 8 Friday night.

Hey TB, I appreciate the effort. I was accessing my mail through the website. It sucks. Sorry I missed you guys. I took my nephew and cousin down to Delaware water gap saturday evening and put a few miles in. It was a beautiful evening for a hike. I'll make an extra effort next time. Always nice to visit the Island. I love NY especially Staten Island.

He is a great kid. They go to Zion Lutheran where my sister is the youth pastor. This past Saturday we did a carwash for a trip to Texas for them. While I was there, he got the instructions for an alcohol stove and built and tested it. He is stoked!
