Tech....I might just do that....except i'll have to figure out how to carry her gear and my gear....it looks like I might have a 60 lb pack....ouch!

She could carry her basics, at the least. No heavier than a bookbag full of books. I have a spare pack I can bring if you don't have one for her.

mapleleaf-do you need a ride from Trenton? Unfortunately I'm coming in the exact opposite direction (from the south) or I would offer to pick you up.

Hey, we can be PG. I think that would be pretty cool. My oldest is just getting into hiking, but isn't brave enough to do an overnighter without his mommy. Maybe next year?

I might be able to pick you up from the train station in NJ. Phantom is also moving up towards the Gothels, and might be able to hook you up with a car pool. We'll figure something out. NO Hitchhiking young lady, not around here!

This sounds like a good trip. I have a 7 year old daughter that I wanted to take on an overnight. Since Stratusloop will be taking his daughter, they might have some fun together. Ofcourse I have to ok this with mom, or mabey mom will come too.
condsider me a mabey.

Does anyone have a Sven or Sawvivior? This is a high use area, and it is unlikely that we will find enough wood without cutting up some big stuff.
BackSlacker

you can use a sven to cut off arms and legs of fellow hikers :D

Hey anyone wanna go hiking with me next weekend?

Hey Crazypace....i'm sorta still hanging on the fence with this one...but please let me know whether you end up being a definite and more importantly bring your daughter...that would be really cool!!! This way I can let my daughter know that she'll have someone to pal around with.....this isnt' exactly one of those exciting trips for kids whereby there are boulders to climb, caves to explore, etc....just alot of flat boring trail, sand, pine needles and hopefully no ticks....

Hi all! I come in peace ;)

Anyhoo...it looks like both groups are staying at Lower Forge on Saturday night so the good (or bad) news is that we won't be completely kidnapping mapleleaf :)

Once off the boards, we're all just hikers, no this side, that side sh*t.

Too much stuff to do this weekend. Take pic's of that Devil if you find em.

Grrrrrr...I may be out, too. My wife's van self-destructed yesterday and I may need to stay home so she can use my car, if the van is not fixed by Friday night. She has a work-mandated seminar Saturday morning so must have a car. I can't justify holding on to her rental for an additional $40 per day over the weekend just so I can go backpacking. If the engine is completely shot I'll also need to go van-shopping over the weekend.

At the very least I won't be coming down Friday night. At the worst, not at all.

5/19/05

Well....i'll toss in another "it looks like i'm out" as well....details...who really cares to hear them anyway....simply there are too many things happening all at once and one can dodge a few but then another pops up and another until it reaches the breaking point.....bottom line....looks like i'll sit out on the driveway with my 9yr daughter for the semi-annual community yard sale....whoo hoo...doesn't that sound like fun? BTW...anybody want to buy an external frame Kelty backpack? oy vey......

BackSlacker

5/19/05

where do you plan on starting off from Sat morning?
we will be starting from the carranzo (what ever that thing is called that is near Batona campsite)
then head into Lebonon (what ever the hell it is called) instead of wharton.
4 out of 5 campsites are closed and or full of boy scouts.
the batona is 95 % full

Aaahhh....Maple....I do declare that the trips page does indeed describe the itinerary....

But...to review....meet at Batsto Village on Saturday at 10am....then hike to the Lower Forge backcountry site and then on Sunday hike back out to Batsto Village....

Hope that helps.....oh...sounds like you be going north and won't be anywhere near the TT group....hey...peace out....
stratusloop

5/19/05

no not really. did any one get a permit?
as i siad before, the boy scouts are in full force in the barrens.
lower Forge is booked. if you did not get a permit by now, chances are you will not be able to

we are heading in a different direction towards Labanon (sp) state park = no boys scouts.
so if you still plan on heading that way, sorry to miss you and all the best of luck to you.
FYI 4 out of 5 camp sites in the barrens are booked and full of scout.

Alright, that sucks. I'll call Batsto tomorrow and find out. Lower Forge is pretty big, we'll see.

Wow, all the dropouts -- alas, I, too, will have to join the dropout parade (I don't think I've ever done this before...)

Between the move and getting stuff for the new apartment, there's just way too much going on for me to be able to squeeze this in. Hell, I've hardly even got time to post this right now (that's why I'm posting it at 1:46 AM...)

Anyways, have fun, y'all!

This trip is moved to the Delaware Water Gap. I have to get a bag night in. If anyone is interested, we'll meet at the Dunnfield parking area at 10am, and do the ever famous "Pennsy Loop" and stay at the backpacker site, Which has now become a staple for a good quick get away. hope to see some of you there.
