“Looks like I'll be coming in Friday night. My plan is to park at the Newfound Gap parking lot and hoofing it in at night. So save me a spot in the shelter. I have the map and the NG parking is on the way back to AC trailhead. I just hope I'll have the energy to morning hike to Charlies Bunion on Saturday.”

“Charlies Bunion is really close to the Shelter. It would probably be an awesome place to catch the sunrise.

Bummer you can't make Mt. LeConte with us. Still, you will have a good hike.

btw - what are you up to this weekend? Want to put in some miles on the Appalachian Trail in PA. I'm hiking a stretch of the trail near where we hiked last may, in the Pinnacle/Hawk Mountain area. Let me know if you want to come. It's just an overnighter Sat/Sun.”
