Subject: FW: Walls of Jericho dedication

Soos Weber & I are requesting your support at the dedication of the Walls of Jericho this Saturday. As you can read below, the governor will be there and is not convinced of the value of preserved land. Please try to attend. You can hike the Walls after the speeches.
Remember to bring water, snack and maybe water shoes.
Thanks
Jill
If you are a member of a group - please forward!

Jeff Danter is sending an emergency message out to everyone to try to make the Walls Dedication on Saturday, because the Governor will be there and he is not convinced of the value of conservation areas to the public. Please send this out to all of your email recipients, and Sierra's too, to try to get a good showing. Steve and I are going to the Smokies for our second anniversary.

Thanks, Soos

Mike and Soos -- attached is an e-mail invitation to the Walls dedication on Saturday. Please send to as many people as possible. We want the Governor to be overwhelmed by the number of attendees -- he needs a good dose of why conservation matters (he is currently unconvinced that conservation pays).

Thanks for getting the word out.

Jeff

I'm planning on being there as a representative of the Sierra Club. Backpacking in on Friday with a couple of friends.

I backpacked to the campground at Walls of Jericho on Friday and spent the night. We got a bit of rain Friday afternoon and then it cleared off and the moon was beautiful and full that night.

Saturday morning, the govenor of Alabama was brought down to the campground by helicopter. I spoke to him as a representative of the TN Chapter Sierra Club, and had my photo taken with him. It was a great opportunity that I would have missed if I had not backpacked there the day before.

Alabama and Tennessee are doing a wonderful thing in preserving land and need positive feedback from their citizens given to the authorities who are in positions to see that more wilderness areas are in need of perpetual protection.
