I just might get this set - looks like it'll break down to 1-2 ounces each. I often wish I had a plate when I'm making burritos or a wrap (though when I bring my bear cannister the lid works okay)...

why add another 2 ounces if the bear lid works?

I think she's saying she would bring it on trips where she doesn't have the bear can.

Bingo. And this cup is definitely lighter than the one I use now... But I don't know how easy it is to hold.

ok makes sense. I just use my pot lid since its gonna be with me regardless.

My pot lid is too small :p

Last year on my Cathedral Lake trip Hikerduane and I had burritos for dinner and pancakes for breakfast - the plate definitely would have come in handy! And sometimes I hike with folks who like to make communal meals so you need your own bowl. The bowl I use now is a tupperwear one but it's got two ridges that make it a little tough to clean. I think cleaning these would be very easy as they unfold flat.

Anyway, I liked the concept and the weight of these pieces!

Looks like siliconized polymer, the kind they make flexible bakeware out of now. Cool stuff.

yeah sounds like you need a plate. I don't do meals like that backpacking. Ramen, rice, tuna for supper...grits or poptart for breakfast. I can't cook pancakes at home let alone on the trail :D

Until this past year I didn't really care about my meals on the trail or while camping, it was the simpler the better. But I've been out nearly every weekend and the usual simple trail/camp fare is getting old quick like!

Looks like you could use the plate as a cutting board too.
Smoething I've wanted a number of times on the trail.

I use a Frisbee for a plate. It holds the food good, and then if I have other people with me we have somthing to play with.

I've taken frisbees before, but they were kind of a pain to clean off. They also can be used as a snow shovel when snow camping.

The frisbee idea is great.

I was looking at that set just this morning. BC, I'm wondering if the snaps would get gunky.

Using a Frisbee was something we learned in Boy Scouts when I was little. Haven't done it in a long time though... not since I could afford Titanium everything :D

I almost posted this when I saw it in the mountain gear catalogue. I have thought about getting it for trips with KabinKamper.

I especially like the folding cup because regular ones are so bulky. But it does look like it'd be awkward to hold.

Neat concept! Thanks for sharing BC!
