You know... it's very hard to just chose one. I have a boat load of favorites from all sorts of different genres. I have 4-5 CD's that are my all time favorite... but... if you have to chose one... and only one favorite musician/band regardless of genre... who would it be?

After much contemplation... I had to chose Jim Croce. Lots of great toe tapping honkey tonking... lots of great folk ballads... and wonderful love songs. I love his body of work. Not sure what his particular genre his would be called. Hit song after hit song... I can't think of a bad one he put out. Too bad his time on earth was cut short :(

Being a highly touted classically trained pianst such as yourself.....it is quite odd you would love LedZep....a no pie-ano band....hmmmm....very interesting....

Never did get to see them....every time we got tickets....something awful happened to the band and they had to cancel....however....I did finally get to see a decent version of Led Zep at Live Aid....except Phil Collins filled in the Bonham slot....it was awesome!!!

strat - Zeppelin has been my favorite band since the 7th grade. I always wanted to see them, but alas I am too young. And now that Jimmy Page lost some fingers I hear he aint too good.

Surprizingly I dont like a lot of the bands that have tons of piano in them.

"....except Phil Collins filled in the Bonham slot....it was awesome!!!"

Are you brain-dead?
Phil Collins may suck in his present incarnation as a crooner, but he was one hell of a drummer with Genesis.

Did Phil lose a hand or something?

Bonham was OK.

I saw Keith Moon in '69 and '70.........holey crap!!!!

Oh Gemmie.........Eminem is "playing" at Nissan Pavilion in northern Virginia, Friday, 5 August.

I agree...original VH lineup is the best and the only one I will listen to.....ya gotta love Diamond Dave....

I saw VH when they released their first album....and they were touring with Black Sabbath....yep....Ozzie and all...in fact VH was the backup band but completely blew the doors off of Sabbath.....it was an awesome concert....Eruption was dynamite! Ice Cream Man is still one of favourite VH tunes...

Hey Stratosloop, I saw Led Zepplin open the show for The Who in spring '69.
The whole thing was frighfully LOUD.
You shoulda seen Pete Townsend trying to follow that act!
Both bands tore it up!

I'm a huge phish fan, but right now it's all Carbon Leaf - Indian Summer. It was a random pick up and play it a Barnes and Noble one day and I've been hooked ever since. You can actually listen to the cd on thier website. I mix of Young Dubliners, Nickel Creek, and Dave Mathews.

better 'splian this one.........

I have around 40 of his 85+ albums/CD's. I've been a fan since I've been about 15.
He does rock
He does new country
He does blues
He does old country
He does covers
He plays every instrument well
He does a lot of tunes with well known folks, including Ray Charles, Huey Louis, Kid Rock, Willie, Leon Redbone, Tom Petty and tons of others

I think you could listen to his stuff and never get bored.

Hang on stratusloopy, stratusloopy hang on.......I don't really think yer brain-dead.....just jivin', Ivan.

I never could understand what happened to Phil Collins.
After his great drum work with Genesis and Brand X.......oy vey!
Maybe he got kicked in the head by a mule.

Rick Derringer has got to be one of the greatest rock and roll guitarists ever.

Eddie Vedder is a right on cat.

Yeah Jack, I was road-trippin' with some pals and we landed in San Francisco a few days before the Dead show.

It was a real freak show.

That was my first and last Dead show.

I believe they said it was Bob Weir's birthday that night.....20 something.

They really could cook.

I lived in Oakland at the time of one of the last concerts, in the Navy. Had to go down to the Boy Scout office near the Coliseum, and there were Dead Heads camped for blocks and blocks along the city streets. My uniform really stood out.

Big wheels keep on turning
Carry me home to see my kin
Singing songs about the Southland
I miss Alabamy once again
And I think its a sin, yes

Well I heard mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

In Birmingham they love the governor
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
Does your conscience bother you?
Tell the truth

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Here I come Alabama

Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two
Lord they get me off so much
They pick me up when I'm feeling blue
Now how about you?

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

Sweet home Alabama
Oh sweet home baby
Where the skies are so blue
And the governor's true
Sweet Home Alabama
Lordy
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Yea, yea Montgomery's got the answer
