lmbo.. I've driven those approach roads too fast a few times.. but NOTHING like those guys try to do it..

somebody was trying to tell me that those guys wreck proactically every few minutes on some days.. trying to run it too fast, and trying to make the spot time..

A friend of mine knows someone who has taken their motorcycle over the Dragon two times and crashed three times, LOL!

When I am on the Dragon in my car, even though I may not approve of how some motorcyclists are driving, I will move out of their way. I do not want to be the cause of an accident, nor do I want to witness one.

I don't remember there being but maybe three places to get out of the way on the dragon. To pass requires you to do so illegally and unsafely.

Still, I'm not going to force the issue.

Are you moving to Colorado? I am new in these forums so I am not up-to-date. If so, where are you moving to? I lived near Fort Collins for 7 years.

You're gonna love Colorado!

woodzie, I am moving to the Denver/Boulder area to hopefully go to grad school at UC Boulder. My mom is from there, so I have tons of family there and have been to the area quite a bit. I am so excited and know I am gonna love it! why did you move to Tenn?

I drove the Tail of the Dragon yesterday. It was nothing. I just take it easy and pull off to let them pass. I believe someone said there were only about three places to pull off the road. Bull! I can find plenty of places. I have driven that stretch of road many times.

I bypassed the Gatlinburg area and stopped at Payless in Maryville and bought some Waldies. Then I passed through one of my favorite places, Abrams Creek CG. I'm now in Bryson City trying to replan my next trip. So for now I'm back to a "Maybe."

BTW, I was stopped north of Nashville in a construction area by police just waving cars over to the side. I fumbled with my harness to make it look like I was removing it as a policeman arrived. He told me I was was "free" and could leave, that they were after the car behind me. I peeled out burning rubber as I hit pavement.

nowslimmer, I saw on the news last night that the police had setup a lot of roadblocks looking for drunks. Luckily they didn't find one but they did write up a bunch for not wear the seat belt.

He evidently has more issue with being called a troll than a jackass.

sorry... (formerly tophs daddy)
Ok, ok, after many-a-heated email from toph, I have agreed to apologize. I'm sorry for cluttering up the thread and for picking on him.

But, with that said, I am looking forward to this trip. It will be my first outing since the California trip to the AAWA last summer. We have had a new edition to the family (our first) so free-time has been very precious and hard to come by, but several things just happened to fall into place for the wknd of the 10-12th and I am able to go.

Looking forward to meeting you all...
