Uh-oh-she buys more cool, geeky gear!

and had to buy it..I've always been into origami and this set is very, very cool..I found a picnic set at:

Wanted a red set rather than the blue available at REI...the snaps hold very well on the plate..the whole set is quite amazing, light, packs flat, easy to clean...and FUN!

Goes so well with my Snowpeak chopsticks....yeah, I know..sick, sick sick (insert goofy face...hey! It's me!)

“Nope, Nigal...if you tip it and the liquid goes over the top, well, big surprise here, it leaks! otherwise, there's no way it can leak...one of the pictured uses is using the plate thingy to drain noodles..by tipping it so liquid leaves via one of the corners..no noodles will escape, just the liquid...

Back on track...I've thought about using one of the disposable glad ware bowls in stead of a zip lock for dehydrated meals. This is as fancy as I get for dish ware.”

“I just finished eating my braised, curried lamb on top of 3 onion couscous in the bowl while drinking some oolong tea out of the cup...worked out really well..the plate can be used as both a bowl with a 4" square base and slanted 2 3/4" sides and as a shallow plate with a base that forms an approximate 5 X 6 base with a back rim of 1 1/2 inches and partial sides....one side does not snap shut like the same as the opposite side..kinda confusing but the design would make a great cutting board..by the way, the bowl has a triangular base and didn't seem to mind being microwaved..I like the bright, red color...”

“Speaking of geeky gear. I was looking at Gregory accesories and saw they have a square stuff sak for sleeping bags. Supposed to fit in the sleeping bag compartment of the Gregory packs. Anyone use these or are they just marketing? Thanks. And mata, we got to get together for lunch or something I am in SCF fairly often.”

“I'm always up for that. I did it last year with 40-50 mph gusts coming up the river. I felt like I was on Superior! When I got to the big wide part about halfway everyone else went along the banks, I decided to go right down the middle. I had whitecaps breaking over the front of my 16 foot kayak and washing up over my skirt. It was awesome! I raced a couple of canoe dweebs, they went forward, I went backwards. They lost a six pack. Which was lucky for me since I didn't have a six pack. I knew I could always outrun em frontwards.”

“Sometimes it's better to go from Oz to TF carrying a large umbrella, been there, done that..LOL..that's the St Croix..90% of the time you have wind from the South..

I tried it using a #2 paper cone filter and, it works perfectly! The only thing I'd do differently is make sure the grind was very fine so it wouldn't pass so quickly through the filter..this makes the Orikaso plate one of the "must have's" on the trail IMHO! So easy..no finger burning..”
