Thats it, I've had it with the midwest!
I need to go somewhere that drinks SODA not POP. I need mountains, not corn fields and where the people re normal!

Mike and I are going to take vacation in october and head west :D I will be visiting family and friends but would like to get some day hikes together (we dont feel like lugging gear along) and some booze extravaganzas with you sacramento peoples :D what do ya say? Wanderer, pheadrus, peppergod...anybody else? Our tentitive dates are oct 9th-16th

Bring your day-packs, I still drive the big ol' Landcruiser & will haul your backsides somewhere for a day-hike.

But re-consider bringing your gear... I'll bet CMB would LUUUUUUUVVVVV our mountains!

our mountains would kick his butt( not to metion mine...stairclimbers just don't prepare ya for some of those hikes lol) ;)

If we do that could we borrow a stove? (alcohol if possible) because we don't wanna have to deal with all that airport BS :)

My main reason for going to CA is to visit my grandparents..saddly my grandmother doesnt have much time and is doing very poorly which is also taking a bad toll on my grandfather. I actually wish I could get to CA sooner as she might not make it to October but can't take the vacation untill oct:(
but maybe something can be arranged. I really want to show Mike CA :)

We shall see mtsteve! It would be cool to see ya again but the 6 hour drive up there with mike in a car...er...uh...I'd have to seriously drug him. The airplane ride will be bad enough LMAO.

I have an extra stove, hell, I probably have an extra everything, just get his sorry butt out here so we can show him what those of us out here call BACKPACKING! We'll have him dreaming of flat cornfields again! LOL.

And if you're staying at your folks house.... remember that's all of 5 miniutes away for me!

On a more serious note SC, Mike used to post A LOT & obviously has a love for BP'ing, so it would be a shame for him to not check out some spots while here.

You can borrow almost anything you need from me to get out for a weekend: I have multiple shelter options for you (An Eureka APEX 2XT, or a 9 X 12 TARP you can stake out if you just wanna do that); an MSR Whisperlite stove, MSR Blacklite pots, maps, etc. Bring your "basics" and personal clothing stuff & you're all set.

I have a PEAK 1 BP and a smallish Kelty Morraine backPack you can take, between the two of you those would handle everything.

Yeah it was his idea you dork :P The only reason he wont day hike here is that its wayyyyy to far a drive to anywhere worth hiking for just a day. In CA you can hike jsut about anywhere. From sacramento hiking can be right there..and its an hour and a half to the mountains or the ocean for hiking
