Send me an email to; sarbar@backpackerdotcom (replace the dot with . )Mke sure you give me your forum name so I know who to credit. If it is a cold recipe, you can give cup measures or equivalants like "1 12 oz bag". If it is a baked trail mix please give measurements. Also, if anyone has any recipes they'd like to share for desserts/breads/bars let me know..or hey, any recipes that I can convert! Sar” 2:02:03 PM 5/04/05 “How bout rocky road: with chocolate chunks, walnuts and mini marshmallows? mmmm Hey sarbar, I still can't find any damn foil packets o ham to go with my cheddar Idahoans. Grr. I've looked everywhere now!” 2:04:24 PM 5/04/05 “Walmart missy! And safeway-it is the Sue something brand. If you can't find it I can pick you up some :-) And that Gorp sounds soooooooooo good!!!” 2:19:09 PM 5/04/05 “sarbar, turq has the Sex in the Bucket listed on the other side last edited: 5/04/05 2:20:32 PM” 2:20:14 PM 5/04/05 “Pixie..your recipe is up ;-)” 2:22:31 PM 5/04/05 “Oh yeah, Ewker that would be good :-)” 2:22:57 PM 5/04/05 “LOL! I thought that up off the top of my head. Funny. I checked my Wal Mart (Lynnwood) and two Safeways (Everett and U Village.) : ( I'm working on a biscuits and gravy recipe, using cooked at home then frozen sausage crumbles. But it would have to be eaten right away (next morn.) I haven't had it on the trail yet. Maybe I'll play with it next weekend when I'm at Kalaloch. They need foil packs of sausage and ground beef too. Then life will be swell. : )” 2:26:03 PM 5/04/05 “They make ground beef..but it is NASTY!!!! ;-) Btw, they do make freezedried sausage patties (Mt. House). They actually are pretty good! I wanna go to Klaloch! Waaahhhhhhhh!!!!” 2:36:36 PM 5/04/05 “Ooh, the Mt House ones might be good to work on my recipe. Thanks for the tip. You should go Sar! What's stopping you? (besides the back right now.)” 2:40:21 PM 5/04/05 “It is called: The house..sigh! Rainy is going to be gone for the next two weekends after this weekend, so I'll be doing a lot of yard work..weeee! But coem June, my back should be good, and I can get back to backpacking ;-) I am hoping to actually do some carcamping in the next 3 weeks though :-) I miss the ocean!” 2:45:25 PM 5/04/05 “sarbar, what brand of ground beef is nasty? I like the Jack Link's brand esp the Mexican style” 2:52:44 PM 5/04/05 “It was the Jacks...the lightly seasoned one...too much grease for me :-( If I can't get over the odor I can't eat it :-(” 3:02:49 PM 5/04/05 “I'm in for car camping! I can do that! I just can't do a lot of walking.” 3:03:01 PM 5/04/05 “Lol...me too right now...we can sit in camp and whine about our bodies..lol! Actually I want to do a dayhike trip w/ car camping up near Rainier in the next month :-) Or maybe camp under an overpass? Lol...that was fun last year!” 3:23:19 PM 5/04/05 Jack Links “I made the mistake of buying a bunch of these at Big Lots. The jerky is fine, nothing wrong with it, but these little packs came with a stick of cheese as well. Ugh. The last time I had one, I ate the jerky and tossed the cheese. I guess it might make good bait though.” 3:25:37 PM 5/04/05 “I never buy the ones with cheese in it I haven't tried the lightly seasoned hamburger yet. How is the Italian style” 3:28:46 PM 5/04/05 “Hey Sarbar, do you mind posting a link to recipe site, or is it a private site? Thanks!” 6:58:51 PM 5/04/05 “Sar, "ka ka ka ka kaaaa!" LOL!!!!” 7:01:05 PM 5/04/05 “Hey, Pixie, sounds like you live near Whidbey Island. We have friends there, near Clinton, and go to visit every other year.” 7:09:42 PM 5/04/05 “Yup, sar, dicentra, fogduo and I all live in the Seattle area. As does lipstick hiker and kleetn.” 7:11:51 PM 5/04/05 “I lived on Whidbey Island for well over a decade...Live in South-East King county now ;-) http://www.freewebs.com/freezerbagcooking/ I just did a bunch of updates today too!” 8:17:26 PM 5/04/05 “Maybe next time we're up that way, we can meet up with the NWers. Every time we go, I think of doing the Wonderland Trail. One day.” 10:14:34 PM 5/04/05 “You'd love the WT...it has been one of my most favorite hikes of my life so far :-) Awesome memories from our thru-hike last summer :-)” 10:32:53 PM 5/04/05 “OMG if you value your life DO NOT I repeat DO NOT try the italian ground beef kind...BLECH!!!!! Even the mice in the gear room left those ones alone.” 10:36:03 PM 5/04/05 “Thanks for the Link Sarbar! I have been looking for a good recipe site for awhile now” 7:19:34 AM 5/05/05 “I make my own Blue Mountain Bear Mush. ½ box of couse-couse, hand full of dried blue berries or other fruit, a good shot of whole dried milk, brown sugar. Put it all in a bag and add water. Sorry I don’t have definite measurements for ya.” 8:01:58 AM 5/05/05 “Very nice site Sarbar, Lots of great ideas too! I'm gonna be sending you some trail mix ideas that I like to eat on the trail.” 8:13:18 AM 5/05/05 “Thanks Frantic :-) They were very appreciated... Hey Nigal, get in the kitchen...chop chop!” 9:10:48 AM 5/05/05 “Np, glad I could be of help. Heck I know I will be using alot of the recipes up there myself. I never heard of freezer bag cooking until you made this post and now I have a feeling I will be doing nothing but. :D Now to find a Cozie that will work for me ;)” 10:27:46 AM 5/05/05 “I just put the recipes up along with a nice sounding granola recipe that was sent to me by another poster. I have been a freezerbag fanatic for now 4 years? I am sooooooo lazy on the trail..lol! I used a piece of fleece for years as a cozy-I use a hard cozy in iwnter though..keeps the food hot. Summer isn't so important though. I do like antigravitys gear's cozy's though.” 11:01:43 AM 5/05/05 “Yeah I thought about getting the one made for the quart size ziploc baggy, but I feel a round one might be easier to eat with while the bag is inside it. Easier to get to everything. I do like the idea of no clean up. I thought about getting one custom made for my snow peak trek 900 so that it is a nice snug fit and I can have my stove put and pan all concealed so that it doesnt make a sound! I just bought that kit so dang it Im taking it with me for now and will use that to boil the water in and to store stuff in ;)” 12:28:41 PM 5/05/05 “Sarbar! You need more photos! I scored recently on the Parmesan cheese packets... Work ordered lunch from Olive Garden and I took home the leftover crutons and cheese... There's a gorp recipe I've been wanting to try... White chocolate chips, hazelnuts and dried cranberries.” 1:07:27 PM 5/05/05 “di, TJ's has a trail mix variety that has pretty much that in it, with some cashews instead I think. Has white and dark choc chips. It has an angel on the bag.” 1:18:20 PM 5/05/05 “Oh, and cozies. I use my Aladdin mug from Wally World sometimes for my cozy. Keeps things very hot.” 1:19:08 PM 5/05/05 “I love love love TJs!! I can go there at lunch! I just picked up some black pepper cashews the other day. :) I'll look for that mix. I need to buy wine anyway! ;)” 1:20:44 PM 5/05/05 “I miss TJ's!!!! Dang it, the closest for me is Issaquah or Federal Way...poo! I miss the candy bars...drool! But hey Di...I think your idea would be good though....” 1:29:10 PM 5/05/05 “You feeling better today sar?” 1:30:16 PM 5/05/05 “Sarbar... There's one right by work. You could come have lunch with me some friday... :)” 1:50:54 PM 5/05/05 “OK, while looking for a recipe for swan, I found this website: Gode Cookery They have a lot of medieval recipes, both in Middle English and translated. It's cool.” 3:02:05 PM 10/24/05 “Well, arclite and I were having this food fantasy while hiking from Silars to Goshen Prong Trail. We never got past breakfast and decided it was time to stop discussing food when he mentioned cheese grits and I replied with how good a glass of chocolate milk would be. I started thinking that powdered milk mixed with a powdered chocolate milk powder (Quick or Ovaltine) would have been damn nice mixed with some 38 degree water on a cool weather hike.” 3:06:06 PM 10/24/05 “Chili, we use powdered whole milk (Nestle Nido brand in a yellow can) and instant breakfast, it's great hot or cold.” 3:21:24 PM 10/24/05 “Cool, I will add that one to the list.” 3:49:34 PM 10/24/05 “Isn't it illegal to cook swan?” 5:24:00 PM 10/24/05 “Mmmmm...cheese grits are good eats :-) I love Nido milk..very good stuff!” 6:06:27 PM 10/24/05 “How about pina coladas?” 6:10:08 PM 10/24/05 “Who is Black Widow? Black Widow said initials "cb", but not crash bang.” 6:11:23 PM 10/24/05 “Profile says Alabama.” 6:20:16 PM 10/24/05 “I am crash bang.” 6:22:27 PM 10/24/05 “You said before you weren't crash bang. What gives spankey?” 6:31:02 PM 10/24/05 “I can't find Nido milk around here. I can find Milkman milk which is pretty good, but I hear the Nido stuff is better.” 10:57:14 PM 10/24/05
