i've out grown them, and want L lens, the same f-stop no matter what focal length you are at. They are good lens, i need pro lens though, to continue improving my skills

I made the jump to "L" glass...what a difference! :)

I have the f/4 17-40mm "L", the f/4 300mm IS and the 1.4x II tele extender.

I have one more lens on my "wish list"
f/2.8 70-200mm "L" IS

All three of these lenses use 77mm filters too!

Good Luck with the auction!

anyone!! [who knows about lenses]
what about that one:

http://www.tamron.com/lenses/prod/18200_diII.asp

I thought me...as a beginner I have enough to do learning all this f/stop, shutter crap...no time to exchange lenses.

so what ya think? Good, bad?
I also liked the idea that is is exclusivly for digi cameras.

It's got some moderate reviews gem, but great range on it. B&H photo has got it pretty cheap. Only ever played with it in the camera store thou.

yeah...I thought it sounded pretty good. I don't like my canon lens too much.

I just ordered it for $330. USA Warranty, brand new. Thought that was okay.

I think it's a okay starter lens.
where did you see the reviews? I've tried to find some...but all I find is general stuff.

Gem, have you thought about joining a local photo club in your area? Usually there are amateurs and professional in these clubs

I joined one here and they are offering a basic photography class for free. The guy that is teaching it has his own business in photography so he knows (hopefully) what he is talking about. He will be covering f/stop, shutter speeds, ISO and everything else. We also have to submit photos we take to be critqued. Hopefully I will be a lot better when I get finished.

Darn! I was hoping you were wanting old fashioned lenses. I have an older Cannon T50 with Cannon 50mm lends, a 35-70 Vivitar lens, a Vivitar 75-300mm lens and all the filters, detatchable flash. Just collecting dust.

Nigal...why aren't you using them? what's wrong with you? Use them!! we could all have a "learn how to take damn good pictures" trip. heeheehee

I have no clue what kind of lenses those are... :) Told you I need to learn.

I have a SRL since I can think off. I think I was 16 when I got my first SLR...but never had a chance to learn the details. I just pointed and shot the picture. I have a little time right now...and I WILL learn.

Have another one or 2 month where I have to take it easy hiking...so that's an perfect excuse to take pictures and slack behind everyoen else. :D

Because the SLR is big. Huge compared to my digi. I'm just a snapshot taker. I traded a shot gun for the whole outfit some years ago.

Nice, citysearch is cool. I found a place that will teach me how to fly a helicopter.

awwww....I can't find anything...bunch a photography studios, that's it. I need to grab a damn phonebook and call them

Nigal, I did that too. I have a tinny canon, and still won't get rid of it. BUT once in a while I really want some nicer pictures. Well...and actually it's time for me to learn something new. I'm bored. :)

sooooo...are you selling your lenses cheap? I just sold mine...and am a little mad that I did. *grins* but that way I was able to afford the digital. who would've thought that I acutally had some work this month.
