“No, they are not comfy to wear all day and they don't fit snug enough for secure fast water crossings. They are good for poking around in, sitting around in and quick errands here and there. I tried wearing mine all day and my feet cried out loud.”

“Yam got some fake waldies for me off of the internet, and they are more comfy than the name brand. They dont have those little pokey things sticking in to your feet. I dont know where she got them though.

They are great for lounging around in camp, and better than tevas to backpack with cause they are virtually wieghtless.”

“My Crocs with the heel strap fit great. I wouldn't hike in them all day, but they are secure enough for stream crossings. I guess it depends on the fit. I've walked a couple miles with them (without backpack) - no problem, but they are really camp and stream shoes for me. They weigh nothing. I've gotten to love having them around the house. Mine are Sage (a dulled dark green) and aren't too noticable.”

“SC, I have seen Tevas at DSW for around $10 and someitmes less. You have to go to the back to the clearance rack. There is a DSW out in the Southlake mall area (Merrillville).


After having really painful blistered feet on Isle Royale, I hiked a little in my Crocs. Not especially easy to do because of the very rocky terrain there, but it was possible and was better than mincing my feet up even worse in my boots.”

“I saw in a store ( I forget where), that this type of material is being used for more styles of really cheap camp shoes. I saw one pair that wrapped the feet a little tighter and could only be described as a "water shoe".

I'm thinking quite soon we might find a balance and have some styles that will hold on in stream crossings but still let the dogs breathe a little bit back at camp.”

“...well.....I guess maybe if they float you can retrieve them.......the bad thing about tevas in camp is walking thru the dew...or if it rains....your toes get wet.......but not cold..I have worn them in winter and with my smart wool socks, my feet stay warm......

i am from boulder colorado, where crocs were invented. a friend of mine was a key investor in crocs when it was just a fledgling company. i ended up investing as well. long story short, my investment was returned to me 3 fold when crocs went public. when you're done #&%!$ing about how stupid they look, you guys can all come visit me at my new vacation home in Vail.”
