Trip report and pics are up on my website. Here's a direct link:

The bears were cool. After the hike, I met up with Pedxing, Skiracer, The Tree People, and MarkO down near Boston. They made fun of my bear picture but it was obvious to me they were just jealous.

Oh Gosh, bears, you are so brave to be so close to them. I would have #&%!$e my britches. (thought I would take the opposite tack of jealousy :) ).

Very cool to get to see bears in the wild. Like you (until now) I have only seen them in the wild from a car. Looks like a nice hike.

I had no doubt that Artex had, in fact, seen three bears high on the slopes of Cannon. However, when I looked at the picture on the screen of his camera, I had to take the opportunity to tease him a bit. Even though he had zoomed in, it still looked like black spots on the slopes in the viewfinder. Now that I have seen the much larger pic on his website, I can say without a doubt that there were definitely three large dark spots on the slopes of Cannon. ;-) ...sorry, Artex.

Artex forgot to mention that he also saw wintersolstice, Mrs. Skiracer and Mrs. MarkO at Pedxing's house. The house looks fantastic and it's great that Pedxing and his family have been able to recently move back in. A good time was had by all with great company, great food and lots of laughs!

Nice TR, and hey...CONGRATULATIONS on taking a picture of 1 big dot and 2 small dots. I hope to acomplish the same one day, but so far no luck.

Oh...just one reason why I don't hike with you:

"and I flew up the face with little effort."

I need at least a couple more month at the gym before I ever hike with you maniacs up there. LOL

Sorry I forgot to mention the others at PedXings party... my thread was started in haste, as I had to hurry out the door to help with a clean-up project on the Saco River.

Yes, my bear picture rocks! Skiracer is obviously still very jealous. That's too bad.

And fear not Gemini. You would have flown up that trail also. It was a pretty easy hike.

DOTS!! DOTS!! THEY'RE AWESOME!!!

Well, it's about time you finish that little mountain. And it's about time you see a bear. I'm surpised you didn't attempt to rassle with the cubs.

bear sightings are cool - i've seen three (mom and cubs) at once only one time in the smokies, but I didn't get any pics.

My eyes hurt from straining to see what those black dots are. 8D
Glad you finally got to get your bear picture. Bears are defiantly cool animals (except if they steal your food). I hope to do some hiking in the Whites soon.
