Glacier National Park..some questions
Hello all, long time no talk busy trying to survive my first year teaching at age 46 and starting my masters.... Well enough crying, I will be in Glacier in July for a wedding but only for 4 nights & 3 days ....some questions please...

1.) Is there any concern about altitude? I have never been further west then Ohio and I know these are big mountains?

2.) Is there a must see location while I am there? Any suggestions welcome.

3.) Is campimg readily available or should I plan on not bringing my gears since it is such a short period?

Thanks in advance for all the suggestions

P.S. Its only 3 full days because I am teaching summer school and must get back

1) Shouldn't be a problem with altitude, highest peak in the park is just over ten thousand, and I'm guessing you're not going to get up anywhere near that.

3) Camping should be readily available in certain parts of the park, but maybe not if you want to stay in a more popular area, check the website, they have daily historic fill-up times for each campground.

Thanks Bison
When I first said yes to going to the wedding I was not teaching summer school so I had plenty of time. Now it will be tight but I just want to see some of the area.

Just make sure you drive the "Going to the Sun" road its the only road though the park and very senic. Also try to get down to the Two Medicene area very senic as well.

What flasher said. But we did 'Going to the Sun Road' West to East. Guess that makes 'Running FROM the Sun?' Because we got there late in the day, we couldn't get a backcountry site 'til the next day and ended up camping on the west end of the park. But that way we missed most of the crouds and traffic, except in the very middle.

If you're looking to explore the park from the car at all, consider taking the North Fork Road up to Quartz Creek, Polebridge and beyond. It can be a pretty rough road, but it gets you into a more rugged section of the park. I made it up to Kintla Lake in the northwest corner before running out of time. It was well worth it.
