That's not a bad price. Great for an outdoor shed.

I used one 2 years ago on the trail. Different brand though. I decided I would rather just carry 2 extra sets of batteries. The batteries are smaller and weigh about the same as the solar charger. It worked well as long as I had a full days worth of sun. Also I had to rotate the panel to make sure it was in the sun all day.

Its good news, that could lead to awesome news. Down toward the bottom of the story it was said that this will only deliver 4-5% more power from the solar cell. Its a nice start that allows for easier positioning of the cells, but what will be awesome is when this coating isn't as fragile as they are saying. These are outdoor installations.

What was pretty interesting to me was this:
Leggett believes that the future is already very bright for the solar industry. He says that $150 billion was invested in renewable energy last year, with $28 billion of that going to photovoltaics.

Of all the possible reasons why solar will soon be mainstream, its the US miliary. It has the deep pockets to pay the high costs now and is pushing to put it everywhere - battlefield forward and rear, foreign and domestic bases. Saving lives and money over the traditional diesel generators on the front lines, and saving money with grid-tie systems at home.
