Looking for New 2 Person Tent “Good morning all. I'm new to the board and the sport of backpacking. My wife and I have been treking for 1 year and have spent most of our time in the Smoky Mtns. This question has probably been asked a hundred times, so I'll make it 101. We are looking for a new 2 person, 3 season tent. We currently use a Kelty Streamside 2, but it has seen better days and I'm looking for something with less weight. I'm considering the MSR Hubba Hubba. Comments? Any other tents that you can recommend would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance..” 7:36:47 AM 5/12/05 “Check out the REI Halfdome 2.” 7:42:10 AM 5/12/05 “the hubba hubba looks like a good tent but it might have too much mesh to be comfortable on some colder fall or spring nights.” 8:15:55 AM 5/12/05 “i love my black diamond lighthouse, but it's a single wall tent.” 8:17:10 AM 5/12/05 “I'm with Bison... I dig my REI half dome ...two doors and two vestibules are great for two people trips.” 8:22:50 AM 5/12/05 “I have a Sierra Design Orion and recommend it.Have used it all types of weather here in the South and no complaints.” 8:27:24 AM 5/12/05 “...two doors and two vestibules are great for two people trips.... The Hubba Hubba looks like a winner. REI Half Dome is good too.” 8:34:32 AM 5/12/05 how about this? “http://www.sierradesigns.com/tents.display.php?id=68 I like the fact that it includes the footprint and gear loft, however at 6+ lbs it's a little heavier than what I'm looking for. Thoughts? Keep the suggestions coming. I'm home from work today and have nothing else to do but research and window shop. A trip to REI could happen this afternoon!” 8:45:15 AM 5/12/05 “http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=38470413&memberId=12500226 The Kelty Gunnison 2 is another good choice and a good buy. The weight can be split almost exactly between two people.” 8:49:38 AM 5/12/05 “The Vestibules on that SD tent look very narrow and small. That's a minus for me.” 8:56:12 AM 5/12/05 “REI has the Hub/Hub on sale for $219.” 9:01:35 AM 5/12/05 “pakratz, Im in a very similar boat in that my wife has recently gotten into backpacking with me, so for the 1st time I've been looking for a 2 person 3 season tent. I just couldnt pass on the $219 deal on the HubbaHubba at the REI sale. The TNF Tadpole23 is also on sale at REI for $139, but less space with only one door/vestible, I bought it and took it back. The Halfdome would be a good tent, but with the HubbaHubba on sale it was the winner.” 9:19:57 AM 5/12/05 “Hubba Hubba” 9:20:46 AM 5/12/05 “My husband and I have a Hubba Hubba and it's the best tent we've owned. It is a little breezy if not pitched tight but that hasn't been a problem yet, even in cooler weather. It's completely rainproof and has no condensation problems. We take it to the Smokies.” 9:25:36 AM 5/12/05
