How many people here have had a KILLER GOOD meal on the trail and it doesn't taste quite the same at home?
I made a trail shepard's pie with mashed taters and dehydrated ground beef which is good on the trail....it is okay at home. Try the Idaho instant fully loaded potatoes. Heck I like Spam (um it actually IS pork shoulder) and mac n cheese on the trail.

i bought one of it a week ago just to try it...and to my surprise it wasn't bad. I think chicken with orange sauce in a cup would've been better though.

I don't know, I have enjoyed some fishy taste with a bit of TWANG to it before. I think the most important part here is ...if you don't like it just SAY so and let it ride.

LOL...all day breakfast....does that mean that you will be puking it up from breakfast until lunch time?

note the date, 1934, remember height of the depression people were eating CRAP "AND WE WERE THANKFUL FOR IT."

My question is....what does that portend to the casual user?

Today...
a family member gave my brother-in-law a quad pack of self heating coffee servings...bought them at costco they said...

it's the packaging that was the thing, press a foil seal on the bottom releases water into a quicklime solution, and that heats the inside of a doublewall styrofoam cup...

Brought some of those to a 3 day race a coupla years ago. Heavy but everyone sure appreciated when I popped em out of my pack at about 2 am! Not bad for a special occassion but they are relatively heavy.

A little coffee, powdered milk or flavored creamer, cocoa and maybe liquor (kahlua, baileys, whiskey). Same effect for fewer ounces.

Anyone tried the new Hamburger Helper Singles on the trail?
They are made for microwaving but look to me like they could be used in a frezzerbag add hot water meal.
They have dried hamburger in the packets.

they go really good with the instant mashed taters in the bags too - you can make the taters in the bag, but be careful, it'll be really full.
