Hi, please post here and let me know how you all have been doing this past year. Kinda like a note in a Xmas card. Thank you!! Trips, marriages, babies, moves to new states, broken legs, favorite TV shows, etc.

Hi LyndyS! Long time since we've heard from you. How's your life been?

Whats new here.....

Abby is 4, tall and sassy. I just dropped off pictures from the RRG Mother's day hike with her to be developed. I think UPluver has some up on the thread now.
I quit working and have started school for Massage Therapy.
Birch is crazy and is doing a 72 hour race acros the state of MI in two weeks.
That's our big news. =)

Yeah, hyway, I guess the EDIT feature is pretty nice. :-) LOL, guess ya had second thoughts about that huge, long list, eh?

Hi Lyndy. Life is fine. More later. I'm at least glad you saw the huge, honkin' list and know why I asked to ban the "muy innocente" Hyway. MOOOO hahaha!

Glad to see you back.

Just joking, Lyndy.

For myself, hikingwise I just got back from Traildays, whoohooo. I section hiked the Georgia AT, including the approach trail back in March. That was the best 10 days of my recent memory. In January I took my 11 yo daughter on a 21 mile backpacking trip and the following weekend spent the weekend in the mountains camping, eating and drinking with friends. In May I took my daughter hiking up on Black Balsom mountain off the blue ridge parkway for the weekend. This coming weekend I am taking all my kids up to Graveyard Fields to meet some other TTers and their kids. Not sure how many folk are coming yet.

Back in Februrary I went snowskiing with my daughter's school for 3 days and slept on the lodge floor with 70 other people. That was fun. I have been on several field trips with my other daughters school and took her to an Airshow.

That should be enough for now.

Hi Sassafras! Abby is already 4! Wow, she is probably an intrepid backpacker too. A massage therapist? Do you have to take anatomy courses for that? I wanted to torture/filet the person who came up with the names for the muscles.

Hi Lizs, we KNOW what hyway did. I was surprised, because I remembered him as being a quiet polite type with wee kids and all. Hmmmph! When you get a chance, let me know which threads to read and all. I'm sure that you have been on some great hikes and in some funny online brawls.

Hi mapleleaf, yes teenagers are the devil when they are the teenagers of the mapleleaf!!Hah! No my 12 year old has enough tears to fill Lake Powell. New job eh, well there is always the next new job.

Hyway, I guess 11 years old isn't wee. Sounds like you spend tons of time with the kids which is great. I've taken over the other daughter's girl scout troop and so now I get to torture two sets of girls with hikes and camping trips.

Lyndy, my daughters would join a scout group but they don't seem to do much more than bake cookies around here. I want one where they actually go backpacking and not just to the cabins at Camp Pretty Pond (thats the real name BTW).

I have two daughters, 11 & 9, and a downs syndrome son who is 5. He is developmentally around 18 months so he will be a handfull for me this weekend. My 11 yo daughter is my backpacker. My 9 yo is very athletic; soccer, basketball, softball, Hap Ki Do, but though she likes camping she isn't into all that walking around in the woods.

Camp Pretty Pond, oh my gosh, I spit my coffee. We will do backpacking when I get done with school in one year. There is a county backpacking group with girl scouts. It is hard for the troop to do it because it is a committment from the parents to acquire gear that the kids may not use much. Most of the people in my town don't want to go backpacking and don't want their kids to go. So I have settled for camping trips with dayhiking. I was recently talking about taking the girls on a night hike because the girls would find it scary/fascinating. One mom asked me if there are bears out at night, and I said but of course, but we won't be wearing hot dogs draped around our necks so no problem.

Hyway, I feel the same way about scouting Hyway. I was a pack leader a few years ago and was amazed at the BS involved in running a pack. I guess the bad press about abuse of children and all has driven them that way. I dicided to do my own thing with my kids. I think there are a lot of good people in scouts and they do great things it just isn't for me.

Let's see:

I got arrested at the republican National Convention.

I also beat the hell out of somebody that was trying to steal my stereo out of my car (with a stick)

Those were very fine hoaxes and generated tons of interesting posts! They make for good reading if you are so inclined.

As for hiking, I have not been on the trail in recent months very much. One of the main reasons is that I now have a classic rock radio show on Saturday afternoons (Thread is 'Treebeard's Underground Railroad to Ride Again). It's on an internet station just north of Blairstown. So, that eats up my Saturdays. But, it's very therapeutic for me. I love doing it.

We are going up to Harriman in a few weeks. Oh, we went up to Boston last week and attended Pedxing's party. Mark-O went, as did Skiracer and wife, Wintersolstice and Artex. Had a wonderful time.

If I think of anything else, I will use that nifty little edit button.

Pedxing, I don't know, I think that I haven't been on the board since August 2004. I was at the Ithaca Car Camping cookout with lots of trailtalkers last July with my two girls and two of their friends. Then in August my family went to Florida for a visit with relatives. We scooted home just ahead of hurricane Charley and school started.

Treebeard that car stereo thing was a hoax? Like ........ you lied to people on trailtalk?

Stu Robins? Is that a stage name?

THe list of DJs includes a "Brian Delp". My husband and I used to work with a Brian Delp who married one of our friends. I'm curious if it is the same fella. Last I heard they had moved to Chicago.

I don't know him. But, yes, that is a stage name. Robin is my middle name. So, when I got hired in Florida at 98 Rock, I had to change it from my real name, so I took that one. It has stuck since '81...

Hi Adventurist! Colorado eh? That is one of my favorite places to vacation. I hope that you and your wife are really enjoying it.

Hi Rich! I'm doing well, just enjoying not having homework or tests to study for. My husband saw the computer and said "Oh no, not TrailTalk again!" But he said that if you post, to say Hi to you. He's taking vacation time from work and doing what? Mowing the lawn. I know, we really know how to live.

Lyndy, what are you studying?

I have anatomy, pathology and physiology. I got all the bones and each little bump and line, etc. Have a great teacher who took the time to explain how the muscles got their names so they're alittle bit easier to remember. But I've just started with them. First muscle test is next Monday on the pectoral girdle and arms, just labeling the muscles, thank goodness. Have to learn all the origin and insertion, action and innervetion stuff next month. Keeps me busy.
