I'm about at my wits end with my gear closet..which is now beginning to overflow into the computer room and take over.

I've been storing things in those large rubber maid containers..one for clothes...one for smaller/misc. items...hung up sleeping bags....hydration bladders etc etc etc...but its not working.

Anybody have any nifty ideas or ways to keep their things organized while at home?

Backpacking gear makes good wall decorations.

lol..I've already moved onto the Martha does Backpacking motif in this room. My poles hang on a small wall...which I kinda dig. Cats Meow as window treatment I'm not so sure about.

I use a couple waist high plastic double-door cabinets. Hang my metal & wood snowshoes on the wall. Put my hikeing treks in the corner. Might make a fancy wood enclosure but these two cabs have served me well for years. Books are on a built into the wall shelf. Topo maps take up the bottom drawer of a wooden (3 drawer) filing cabinet. The rest of my maps are on 10 CD's in their own case.

Gear for one a problem? Try gear for a household of 5! My computer room is starting to look like a mini REI. I've got gear everywhere.....

I hung a closet organizer in my basements utility room. For backpacking its perfect, but all of my sports equipment is still lying around.

Well...I wear my clothes most of the time. They are comfy! As for my gear...it stays put downstairs on a large table in several milk crates. Packs are hung on the wall. Wee don't use poles in TN. At least I don't. Everything is seperated and I pick and choose what to bring depending on what type of trip I'm taking. Milk crates are great. They're free and they are great for organizing stuff.

I keep my clothes in my bedroom, with the rest of my clothes. That only frees up one tub though.

I want to take my gear with me to bed, but that's rather difficult, so I keep them in my closet, which my gear slowly but surly takes over the closet. I should have a gear room, but I don't. My closet is stuffed to the max.
