Why the hell would anyone want to crack a squirrels nuts?

I think TNF is a bit overpriced anyway, but I got a good deal on a couple TNF wicking tees at Dicks this past weekend. I don't trust Ebay. (but I trust you, Gem!)

“I think TNF is a bit overpriced anyway,”

I don’t normally put too much stock in the big name brands and I flat out refused to buy a TNF anything when they had the great big labels. I normally buy gear in the REI range of price and quality. I had an REI coat that wet out the second time I wore it. The TNF coat has never wet out and I know I can stand in the rain for hours and not get wet. Now hiking with it on is another story cause I sweat. This coat I have has all the goodies on it and is a bit heavy but it’s one of the few pieces of gear I know will work every time.

Looks like ebay has had a nice threat of legal action from TNF.

It has a "made in the USA" label on it.

I don't think that's it. I have a real TNF I bought locally at an outfitter. I haven't seen a "made in USA"
the tag says "made in bangladesh"

the ebay TNF says "made in china"

"They feel lumpy and hard.”

That sacco is right about you. LOL!

I was wondering if there was a way you could take a close up photo of the tag or some other tell tle sign to show it a real TNF coat so it won't get taken down off Ebay? I just emailed the company to get some answers as to how to assure a buyer my coat is a real TNF product.

Wow they're fast1 Here's the answer I got back within the hour concerning how to tell a fake from the real Mcoy...

Dear Craig,

Thank you for contacting The North Face. As it is with many popular, high
quality brands, products made by The North Face are sometimes counterfeited
by disreputable manufacturers operating illegally, without our knowledge or
consent.

We are very concerned with protecting our brand integrity and the interests
of our consumers. It is with these goals in mind that The North Face
recommends to all consumers that they only purchase our products through
authorized dealers. This is the only way we are able to assure the
authenticity of our products. We cannot guarantee the quality of products
that are not authentic The North Face products, and these products are not
covered under warranty.

To our knowledge, there are no authorized dealers selling The North Face
products through online auction houses. Our authorized dealers are listed
on our web site Dealer Locator at http://www.thenorthface.com.

The most common indicators that you may have purchased a counterfeit are 1)
it was purchased from a non-authorized dealer, 2) the price was
significantly lower than the Suggested Retail Price, 3) the materials and
workmanship are of poor quality.

Unfortunately, there is no definitive way for us to tell if your product is
authentic without examining it.

Best regards,

Eric Worthington

It's about what I expected but at least they answered me.

Aha! I got another answer. Shorter but much more informative.

Dear Craig

Thank you for contacting The North Face. If it was purchased at one of our
North Face Outlet Stores then it is a real North Face article. The O on the
inside tag will be black.

Best regards,

Valerie Simpson

btw: I have send them 3 emails...and have not received one single response!

Sounds like TNF and Ebay can equally share some of this thread's idiocy moniker. What exactly qualifies someone to be a "Consumer Response Specialist" at TNF? The ability to type? It's obvious neither of those "specialists" could tell you where their garments are made much less identify a counterfeit piece.

“sooo...those idiots can't really tell at all. they just took it for granted because I bought it on ebay. so much for my dumb ass being too honest? that's what the #&%!$ing problem is??"

I think it simply comes down to the fact that John Q Public (or in your case Jane Q Public) isn't an authorized dealer.

that's bull nigal! I am allowed to sell my used gear on ebay! Show me in writing where it states that I can not sell used gear! I was not selling it as new. I explained the jacket had no tags, and that I prviously bought it on ebay.

btw, after emailing him 100 times, I finally got a response:

Dear Gabriele,

Thank you for your email. We will review your situation and get back with you.

Best Regards,

Randall S. Rabenold

LOL Randall S. Rabenold???? [sorry]
anyway...don't #&%!$ with me Randall S. Rabenold! Dammit, he knows he acted too quickly. He saw a picture of the jacket, read the title and send a complaint email to ebay. I betcha he didn't even read my listing!!!

lol...i don't know if it's counterfeit. they have removed my listing because they say I am selling a counterfeit jacket. I have no clue if it is or not.

so basically, they are trying to mess with a person who sells ONE TNF jacket on ebay. [fake or real] instead of the mass sellers that sell them.

stupid!

nigal and carlette. i am telling ya...don't do it!! i know someone how did...and he got caught...big huge trouble!!!
