Uh, I had to go to WORK!!!
That pesky thing called "work" that some of us have to do.....and being on the West Coast I just got home....
Y2-no, I do NOT break any laws with firearms. I carry when I want, when it is appropriate..ie-I don't carry in NP's. Duh. I have all the licenses needed. The only thing scary about firearms is lack of training. A gun does not shoot itself.
Afraid of guns? Take a class! Or twenty classes!
Afraid of your kids will play with guns? TEACH THEM!!!! Take them out, and train them to shoot, teach them safety every month.
My son has his own rifle. I have little fear of him using it wrong or playing with others guns-training, training and more training.
When I do carry, no one knows-and I don't advertise it.

And illegal drugs? As I said before-that is one thing I don't put up with. With our hiking group it is very known that drugs are not allowed. If they wanna smoke on their own time, when not part of the group, so be it-that is their life. But I want nothing of it. Helps that one of my partners is a cop also ;-)
Would I turn in drug users? If I saw a meth lab I would without blinking. Same with a pot grow operation. Hell, I turned in neighbors of mine a couple years ago-I got sick of their nasty "friends" that slimed all over our neighborhood! It was inviting crime. No thank you.
You can call me what you want-but there are two things I believe in:
The right to own and bear arms.
And the abilty to be free of the fear of illegal drug users and their lengthy list of social ills that follow them.

Maybe I should carry our AR-15 in the NF? Lol.......heck the rangers out here do when they go after poachers!

But all aside, I hope that I never have to use any of our firearms on a person. So I keep training and training-I go to the range, I train with my man. I am responsible for my own safety and that of my family-and I will defend it if needed.
And I am female.

In winter I do carry openly when legally allowed, and when in cougar country:

I think lightning bugs are cool, flying around, advertising their "Open For Business" mindset. Oh if life were that easy for humans. Go to a club, butts all aglow.... Gotta stop licking those dang special stamps....

Sweet Jeebus Sar! That Kimber is one sweet piece! Sometimes you can just look at a gun and tell what it's like. My neighbor has a Springfiel custom and I have never felt anything like it before. What do thoses Kimbers run if ya don't mind me asking? $1,000 plus?

I think Manuka (of all people?!??!) is worth re-quoting:

I do not understand carrying additional weight so you can alter your perception of the nature you have hiked in to see.”

They definately add weight, but if I go by the 30 percent rule I should be able to carry 100 pounds of gear.

The often cited prohibition against guns in National Parks prompts me to ask if any other constitutional rights are also rescinded in National Parks ?

Are National Parks exempt from the US constitution somehow ? or just some of the articles of the constitution, and if only some is there a list somewhere of which ones apply and which ones do not.

If National Park regulations supercede the Constitution, who is the ultimate arbiter ?

Just curious
