Ticks of the USA

“This may seem like a strange question but are ticks really prevalent all across the US or are there certain areas where the ticks are thicker. I know here in N WI if it is a dry year the ticks are extremely thick. Once when out with a friend and his short haired dog we watched them swarm her and lost count at 90. He carried a horse brush that year to whisk them off.”

“I hardly ever see any ticks where I hike (Adirondacks). I know they are there, but not in the large numbers like other places.”

“I was in central Louisianna for two years and didn't really have many ticks, not many mosquitos either. I was worried that there would be ungodly amounts of mosquitos in LA but there weren't too many in Cen La. South LA is something totally different. They are alot smaller in the south than in the north though.”

Mike I lost a friend to Lyme disease. She was an older lady and was one of the first confirmed cases in WI of Lyme. Treatments have come a long way in a few years and hopefully you'll be back on the trail soon.”
