This may seem like a strange question but are ticks really prevalent all across the US or are there certain areas where the ticks are thicker. I know here in N WI if it is a dry year the ticks are extremely thick. Once when out with a friend and his short haired dog we watched them swarm her and lost count at 90. He carried a horse brush that year to whisk them off.

I hardly ever see any ticks where I hike (Adirondacks). I know they are there, but not in the large numbers like other places.

I was in central Louisianna for two years and didn't really have many ticks, not many mosquitos either. I was worried that there would be ungodly amounts of mosquitos in LA but there weren't too many in Cen La. South LA is something totally different. They are alot smaller in the south than in the north though.

I hate ticks very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very much! VERY MUCH! I don't want to jinx it, but I have not had a tick for years (thank you god, please keep it that way)

You get one or two skeezers on you, it'll take more than a shower to get them off.

Yes, ticks are everywhere! I've had Lyme Disease for almost a year now. As of right now, I can't walk without the use of a walker. I thought ticks weren't common in the areas I hike in California. I was wrong.

Here's my story: "Living With Lyme".

Yuk! I just got bit by a tick several days ago. I think i got all of him out of me, but later the bite begin to itch and swell. Nothing was helping, until i put Burt's Bees Rescue Remedy on it, and now it seems healed. I know you can't really tell... Out here, i have been bitten a lot of times. But then the skeeters, fleas, black flies, and no-see-ums love me too! YUK!

I just hate how bear and deer ticks get to a spot like a waist band or something and start digging in until only their butt and two little back legs are sticking out. Makes for fun back country surgery. I would rather deal with ticks than the bugs that bite you and it hurts.

Mike I lost a friend to Lyme disease. She was an older lady and was one of the first confirmed cases in WI of Lyme. Treatments have come a long way in a few years and hopefully you'll be back on the trail soon.

Deer Tick Warning — We are already into spring and summer, so BEWARE!!!!

If someone comes to your front door saying they are conducting a survey on deer ticks and asks you to take all your clothes off and dance around with your arms up, DO NOT DO IT!!

IT IS A SCAM; they only want to see you naked. I wish I'd gotten this yesterday. I feel so stupid now.
