Virginia Lakes Split-fest (Sierra Nevada, CA) “A bunch of splitboarders met at Virginia Lakes for a fun weekend of backcountry snowboarding. http://community.webshots.com/album/346546031BBrIws/1 last edited: 5/20/05 2:26:04 AM” 2:21:29 AM 5/20/05 Title should be: Virginia Lakes Split-fest “guess I screwed that up . . . last edited: 5/20/05 2:23:05 AM” 2:22:11 AM 5/20/05 “Great pics! This should be fun.” 6:05:21 AM 5/20/05 “I'm so darn jealous, snowboarding in late May? I sure hope a lot of that snow goes away by early July, I have some passes to get over.” 6:54:54 AM 5/20/05 “Nice pics. Looks lik a blast. Crappy about the flat, the price you pay I guess. The pic of Glass Mountain is very nice. That's quite a storm coming over the mountain.” 7:02:00 AM 5/20/05 “OOOOHHH! I just finished looking through all of 'em, I saw some Lobster Taquitos on the last page, Now I'm hungry!” 7:11:57 AM 5/20/05 “bison...u saw that? I got hungry looking at that. it looked soooo good.” 7:16:56 AM 5/20/05 “You ever had'em Gem? They're great, take a drive up to the Whoa Nellie Deli while you're out there (Well I think It would probably be a bit of a long drive from where you'll be)” 7:36:50 AM 5/20/05 “I never had them. It looked really, really good though. So I guess this is a ONE restaurant ONLY receipe huh? Too bad. It did look good. Favorite pictures: http://community.webshots.com/photo/346546031/348579567kdhtMl http://community.webshots.com/photo/346546031/348529650UWCXeZ I love how the cloud looks above the mtn.” 7:40:51 AM 5/20/05 “awesome pics. Looks like a wild ride!” 9:13:45 AM 5/20/05 lobster taquitoes... “now that sounds good...gonna have to try that on the river...snow??? not here. Its 87 hot and humid with a breeze that is reminiscent of a dragons breath...so, no snowboarding for me... As always...great pics. Nice to know that your still kickin it out.” 3:41:37 PM 5/20/05 “Beautiful pictures SN! Looks like you all had a really nice sunny Sierra day! The blue sky against the white snow is so pretty. Such a cute picture of Bailey running down with her ears flopping in the wind. How is Bailey doing? Thank goodness for the Whoa Nellie Deli..I finally tried there blueberry cheese cake there last year. Thank you for sharing more of your wonderful pictures!” 4:36:22 PM 5/20/05 “SN....once again...really cool photos!! I like those photos you do with the overlay lines....gives ya a nice perspective.... That looks like alot of fun.....I wanna do that!!! Whoa Nelli Deli is on the list....those plates looked awesome....I gotta get there soon!! Hey BTW.....you need to get Justin out there on the slopes.... Glad to see you made it back to hike another day.... Peace out....joe” 5:02:52 PM 5/20/05 “I must've been tired when I started that thread. I probably thought I was logging in or something. Duh! Those Lobster Taquitos not only look good, they were awesome! Can't wait to go there again. The breakfast croissants were pretty good too! I've heard good things about their Mango Marguaritas, but I'm always on my way home. Amazing that the food at a gas station deli can be so good! Whoa Nellie Deli: http://www.thesierraweb.com/tiogagasmart/ Gemini, it'll be nice to meet you and the others this summer. I can only go for the weekend, so hopefully we'll hook up. Bison, come out now, Mammoth has 12-14' snow, and the backcountry has been fun! I'm hoping the snow melts too, so we can do our July 2-10 trip. We have a few peaks and passes to do during that time so it'll be easier without the snow. Mammoth will be open til July 4th. MM, mtrider had those tires for less than a week, and that broken pole tore it off the rim, wouldn't let go! Those tires are expensive! The other bummer is that whoever installed the tires didn't give him the spare tire! Hope he got that straightened out. He finally got home 7pm on Monday night. Said the 395 was closed south of Lone Pine because of 5 'overturned' semi's. It was really windy, I guess. They had to go into Death Valley and around to get home. Glass Mountain was pretty awesome, I had to turn around to get that picture. I was in the wrong lane to pull over, so we backtracked and waited for the sun to hit it again. stikmon, still going strong at 74 consecutive weekends! Might have to break the string in August. We'll see. MiT, Bailey is awesome! A year ago (Memorial Weekend) he did his first Sierra Peak, Bloody Mtn (13K+), and had bloody paws from the snow. He wimpered and got a ride down (snowboard) in SFB's arms. It was so cute! Bailey has been hiking a lot since, and has become quite the snow dog now. You can see it in his "smile": http://community.webshots.com/photo/336602893/336621357QQHuWO SFB puts some kind of ointment on his paws and he runs down the slopes without any problems! He's so cute, the way he tilts his head when SFB talks to him. I will have to try the blueberry cheese cake next time. Stratusloop, I got him out once last year (http://community.webshots.com/photo/137664664/137668071CgXECI) He did well, but it just isn't his "thing". He's into cycling, and still trying to get me to do some Sierra bike trips. "When I find my front tire . . ." I keep telling him. My bike is set up on one of those "stationary" setups and I can't find the front tire. My truck struggles on some of the roads that crazy mountain boy likes to ride! Leaving for Mammoth again soon, Saturday on the mountain and Sunday splitboarding Onion Valley! Whoo hooo!” 8:54:46 PM 5/20/05 “Dang, that looked like fun! Great pics. Thanks!” 11:57:09 AM 5/21/05 Another weekend on Mammoth Mountain (CA) “Instead of starting another thread, I'll add on to this one. Memorial Weekend on the slopes . . . great snow, lots of coverage, skirt day (even SnowDude wore one!), and lots of friends and fun! Saturday, 28 May 2005: http://community.webshots.com/album/357592288dduujN T-shirt skiing and riding! Sunday, 29 May 2005: http://community.webshots.com/album/357628668LWWtoY Skirt day . . . got Scott in a skirt with pig tails. Mo & I were Fook Mi and Fook Yu (Austin Powers). Scott was Fook'd Up. It was so cold Sunday we had to bundle up (so much for short skirts and little tops! It was nice on the other two days. Figures! Monday, 30 May 2005: http://community.webshots.com/album/358542137gRZigV Another bluebird day, fast laps off the top. last edited: 6/02/05 2:38:13 PM” 2:37:37 PM 6/02/05 “SnowDude in a skirt and pigtails, now that's funny. I can't wait to get to CO, I won't be snowboarding on Memorial day, but at least I'll be able to snowboard after February!” 2:44:50 PM 6/02/05 “Nice pics of the scrape - webshots will probably bust you on that one!!” 3:38:14 PM 6/02/05 “Looks like a great weekend with friends. Skirt day-craziness!!” 3:51:41 PM 6/02/05 “Snowdude--I find you disturbingly attractive! ps- i think I'll be able to get some tele- skiing in this weekend up at Cooke City. We're still getting snow up there! last edited: 6/02/05 4:29:32 PM” 4:28:03 PM 6/02/05 “Ahhh.... the ski season we never had Looks like you might even have a couple of steeps on that little ski hill of yours ;-) Cute skirt Dude” 4:47:59 PM 6/02/05 “New name for Snow Dude: Skirt Dude....” 5:04:11 PM 6/02/05 “SnowDude, Is that a Jeep you're driving? What do you think of it so far? We're thinking over the idea of getting one, though I'll probably look for a used one.” 5:13:49 PM 6/02/05 “LMAO...and they call ME weird??? Looked like a lot of fun!” 6:24:39 PM 6/02/05 “Yup go Jeep Geezr... Your not giving up that big-ass fancy pick-'em up truck are you?” 6:31:49 PM 6/02/05 “Hodge, Lets just say we're exploring our options. We need a 4X4 for surf fishing, so we'll either keep the truck, or replace it with something easier to get around in. Right now we still have the fifth-wheel, so we'll be keeping the diesel until we decide what to do with it. We've been looking at a Wrangler SE, something we can get around the beach with and not have to worry about getting a little fish residue on. Malinda likes the idea of a soft top.” 7:30:58 PM 6/02/05 “Bowlderman, I don’t think they’ll delete this one. Aero’s face isn’t on it! LOL! Tango, it would have been crazier if the weather would have cooperated. It was warm Sat & Mon, and butt-freezing cold on Sunday. Aero, so did other people! Everyone thought he looked better! You’re still getting snow? Hodge, Those steeps are so filled in they’re looking flat! Normally the throat of Hangmans is a narrow patch of snow between the rocks. Sweet corn right now! Geezr, he got the Jeep Rubicon in November. We LOVE it! It’s a little rough, and loud on the highway, but its pretty awesome off road! Since we don’t car camp anymore, that will be my next vehicle. I can even sleep in the back! Now I just have to wait for the 4Runner to die, which could be a long time. Gemini, we have a lot of fun on the mountain. Any excuse to dress up! http://community.webshots.com/photo/210251174/210251174cnJTiW http://community.webshots.com/photo/76424317/305078573takTFh http://community.webshots.com/photo/70304870/70307523AgSSpt http://community.webshots.com/photo/74722011/74745929gyqHae http://community.webshots.com/photo/209339496/210245687mGYiyp http://community.webshots.com/photo/210751247/210751247fuOtvP Never gonna grow up! SnowDude said he had to have a 6 pack to go thru with the skirt. We got to the parking lot and it was fun watching him get dressed, and at the same time saying “I can’t believe I’m doing this” under his breath. He realized if he drank the beer he would have to pee, and he wasn’t about to go in the men’s room with a skirt. So no beer. He said ok, only two runs. I spent too much time getting the costumes together, so he agreed on a few hours. “But you two have to stay with me the whole time!” From the jeep to the chair lift, he was muttering “I can’t believe I’m doing this. . . I can’t believe . . . .” People got a kick out of it and he relaxed a little. It was cold under the skirts, and I heard him say something about his lower anatomy being the same size as mine. Guess it knows when to hide! A few hours later he went to the jeep to get a jacket ALONE! So he was more comfortable by then. He kept the outfit on all day, even at the tailgate party! It was a fun day. Mammoth Mountain will be open til July 4th weekend (another dress up day), but we have plans to backpack during that week.” 12:21:43 AM 6/03/05 “Looks like fun! Skirts are no big deal to wear. I'm waiting for "Thong Day".” 2:03:55 PM 6/03/05 “Buck, are you going to wear a thong???? Whoo Hooo!” 2:36:50 PM 6/09/05 Saturday, June 4, 2005 “Got another day of snowboarding in this past weekend: http://community.webshots.com/album/362637080JsrfEB Fun day on the slopes, except for a friend got injured and is out for the season. :-(” 2:39:11 PM 6/09/05 “I miss Snow Nymph's snow boarding trip reports and photos. I was just watching the snow reports for out west and thought of her, especially when a woman dressed as a pixie went by. SN took a photo of someone like that a couple of years ago. Has anyone heard from Snow Nymph?” 2:13:12 PM 1/23/08 “I was thinking about her the other day as well. Nope, she used to post TR and pics on the other side as well and then the forums switch happened....” 3:02:26 PM 1/23/08 “http://www.snow-nymph dot com recent photos: http://snownymph.smugmug dot com/Desert%20Peaks last edited: 1/23/08 3:35:50 PM” 3:34:30 PM 1/23/08
