Our District Ranger's husband took these two photos while flying into Fresno a few days ago...

Yup, there's still a bit of snow up there!

Can anyone pick out any features in the pictures? He was flying from Salt Lake to Fresno...

Can you go up there with a heater and melt some of that for me? Thanks, I've got a couple of passes to get over in early July.

Beautiful BC....the snow peaks look like whipped meringue or whip cream!
Yes, there is a lot of snow up there.
Can you give us a hint? was he north of mammoth and south of yosemite maybe or more south of mammoth around bishop? But that 1st picture of the lake looks a bit like topaz lake, which would be in that picture north of Yosemite around Sonara pass area???Im probably way off
How neat that must have been to see!

It's melting this weekend, big time! It's supposed to be 80 degrees up at 8,000 feet in the Tulare County Mountains today!

Amazing!

The creeks, streams and rivers are already bulging at the seams...and we are no where near peak runoff yet. Should be an amazing year for high country wildflowers though!

WindWalker - it's been an amazing year for wildflowers everywhere in California! The best I've ever seen! Death Valley was the best, but Joshua Tree, Anza Borrego, and Carrizo Plain were equally wonderful. I couldn't believe the Mojave Desert this year, in places it looked like a lush grassland.

Right now the wildflowers are amazing in the foothills 2-4,000'. I love how the spring bloom lasts from January to August, depending on where you are in California :)

same here in NM, same reason. We got the same storms. Flooding from snowmelt in the 4 corners area with the big snow pack, delayed melt, sudden warm temps.

All that water will need to go somewhere! Going to be an interesting summer!

Neat. We just took the train over Donner Summit. There's water running everywhere. You think maybe you could get an update on those photos in mid-June?
