dont say you havent been warned
i thought it was kind of ironic that it was anakins/vaders actions that caused padme to die, which was the very thing he wanted to prevent. does anybody think palpatine let him see those visions?

i didnt think lucas was making any political statements, even with the "either youre with me or youre my enemy" statement. thats not exactly original to shrub. at least not until obi-wan was heard to mutter "only the sith deal in absolutes". replace "sith" with "republicans/fundamentalists/yo mama" and youve got the start of a trailtalk fuego flamewar

I thought it was kinda stupid how at the beginning he was upset at killing Dukoo as it wasn't the Jedi way, but would kill kids later on. The transition to evil was too fast and too simple. Just for love I don't think he would have killed those kids, it did show how evil he became, but it was way too fast. That's the only part I didn't like.

But I do think the Emperor influenced his dreams giving him those visions. Probably helped turn him a bit too with his evil powers.

No, I think Anakin was always evil and the Jedi were just keeping it in check. Don't forget that he killed all those Sand People, including the children, in Attack of the Clones. Also, I think the timeframe was supposed to be several months. One thing they failed to elaborate on is that he was depriving himself of sleep because of the visions, and it was causing him to be even more unstable than usual.

Good point - but it was already a really long flick.

even the most vilest of villains are heroes in their own mind, doing the right thing that everyone else is afraid to do. even hitler and stalin and all the other genocidists throughout history believed that what they were doing was for a greater good. thats what vader believed. palpatine manipulated his emotional vulnerability and twisted his mind to believe the jedi were evil, were haters of democracy, and that destroying them was the patriotic thing to do. it did not matter that he was killing children, for they were apprentices of evil in his mind.

Sidious told Vador that the sith could restore peace to the galaxy.

I blame it all on Mace Windu. He treated Anakin like a red headed stepchild and paid for it in the end.

I don't think he let Anakin have visions. I don't think he's capable of that. I doubt he even knew he had them. I think he just knew what was up with Padme. There is no reason to think he could or did allow him to have visions.

If Anakin didn't say anything about them, he wouldn't have known he had them.

palpatine might have sensed his turmoil but that's it.

anakin had the visions about his mom on his own.

i think the whole idea is that he made his vision of padme come true by trying to stop it. a paradox.
not exactly an original theme.

Man Dressed as Darth Vader Spared Jail for Attack on Founder of Britain's Jedi Church

HOLYHEAD, Wales — A man who dressed up as Darth Vader, wearing a garbage bag for a cape, and assaulted the founders of a group calling itself the Jedi church was given a suspended sentence Tuesday.

Arwel Wynne Hughes, 27, attacked Jedi church founder Barney Jones — aka Master Jonba Hehol — with a metal crutch, hitting him on the head, prosecutors told Holyhead Magistrates' Court.

He also whacked Jones' 18-year-old cousin, Michael Jones — known as Master Mormi Hehol — bruising his thigh in the March 25 incident, prosecutors said.

The two cousins and Barney Jones' brother, Daniel, set up the Church of Jediism, Anglesey order, last year. Jedi is the faith followed by some of the central characters in the "Star Wars" films.

The group, which claims about 30 members, says on its Web site that it uses "insight and knowledge" from the films as "a guide to living a better and more worthwhile life."

"We all love the films and what they stand for. Obviously some people are going to laugh about it," the Wales on Sunday newspaper quoted Barney Jones as saying last month. "But a lot of people do take it seriously."

Unfortunately for Hughes, his March attack was recorded on a video camera that the cousins had set up to film themselves in a light saber battle.

"Darth Vader! Jedis!" Hughes shouted as he approached.

Hughes claimed he couldn't remember the incident, having drunk the better part of a 2 1/2-gallon box of wine beforehand.

"He knows his behavior was wrong and didn't want it to happen but he has no recollection of it," said Hughes' lawyer, Frances Jones.

District Judge Andrew Shaw sentenced Hughes to two months in jail but suspended the sentence for one year. He also ordered Hughes to pay $195 to each of his victims and $117 in court costs.

In the 2001 United Kingdom census, 390,000 — 0.7 percent of the population — listed Jedi as their religion.
