I just finished a bunch short stories by Hemingway, Into the Wild, and I'm just starting Walden and Monkey Wrench Gang again.

I picked up what I thought would be an interesting historical novel, but I'm afraid it's a bit of a romance too. Oh well. I don't read books I don't enjoy anymore, so if it gets bad, I'll dump it.
It's called Into the Wilderness

"The Smoke Jumper," by Nicholas Evans ("The Horse Whisperer")

A tale that spans two generations. I think it aims for two vastly different audiences: women/romance and men/tale of war and Third World. Not sure that it works for either...

Trying to envision if it would work well into a movie.......

Just finished reading "The Face" by Dean Koontz. He writes some strange books! That one was over 600 pages.

I'm starting to read a Joy Fielding book entitled, "Whispers and Lies".

A book on the killer blizzard in the Dakotas in the 1880's. A real freak of nature that killed 300+/- children because they were let out of school to go home and didn't make it because the storm was so bad. Pretty depressing but very interesting.

Right now I'm reading the "USDA Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Divisions" publication of "A Guide to the Desolation Wilderness."

LOL

For those of you who are backpackers, I'm reading a TOPO MAP to try to figure out where I want to camp & what permits I need.

For the rest of you, I'm also reading "A Guide to Using your Phone" the "Smart Device TREO 650 by PalmOne". Ths is a 348 page tome! (having said that... and I'm sure it sounds like a bit*#, this is an awesome technical device, and one that I'm glad I purchased!)

OK... back to backpacking...
