What a great trip Drove to the Des Moines airport to meet one of my clan. The terminal building was amazing. I had not been in one for years. Upon arriving I manage to obtain a close-in parking space by cutting-off someone. It was great. I feel my day is incomplete until someone waves a finger at me like this other driver did. I walked to the entrance and a huge, revolving door saw my approach and started to rotate. It even recognized my departure inside the building and ceased operating. Hmm! I found an "Arrival Console" that showed all planes "on-time" except my daughter's flight, for which it indicated a "delay." Since my morning coffee had worked it's way through my system, I headed for the men's room. A regular looking door noticed my approach and opened for me. Even the urinal detected when I was finished and it flushed automatically as I backed away. The water faucet was automatic, too, and it even dispensed water at my preferred temperature. Then came my greatest surprise. The paper towel machine detected my approach and started to dispense paper towels. I was intrigued. As long as I kept moving a hand or another part of my body the paper towels continued to roll out of the machine. I watched and watched until there was a pile of paper towels on the floor about two feet high. By that time my hands were dry, so I departed. I dared not enter one of the stalls. They probably had automatic wipers there and I sure was not going to position my jewels close to such a machine.

My daughter arrived safely and we drove 50 miles back to Grinnell to await her sister's graduation on Monday, tomorrow. My thoughts were that with all that automation, it is no wonder that the airlines are going broke. I may be almost 73, but I don't need a machine to hand me paper towels.
