Wildflowers and a bear, oh yeah!

“Sunday I went on a "photo expedition" to the GSMNP. I had a tip on where to find Yellow Lady's Slippers, which I have been looking for. They are stunning wildflowers! Here's a link to the photos of the Yellow Lady's Slippers:

After seeing the Lady's Slippers, I decided to drive to Cades Cove. What was I thinking??? It was a nice Sunday afternoon, tons of traffic moving at a snail's pace or slower. But a yearling black bear did make it all better when s/he decided to come out of the woods. Here's the link to the bear photos:

Turned out to be a good day after all - Yellow Lady's Slippers and a bear.

FYI: I used a 300mm lens to photograph the bear.

“Nice pics of the Yellow Lady Slippers. There are some growing at the Walls of Jericho. Unfortunately some of the public can't leave them alone and are digging them up and taking them. It's creating quite a stir now that they've informed the public of the actrocities.”

“couchtater, when I was in the smokies a few weeks ago a lady asked the ranger where she could go to see the lady slippers. The Ranger told her they were not giving out that info because so many people were digging them up. The ranger siad they have been arresting quite a few people for digging them up.

I hope a nice fat fine comes with it.”

“I buy my Ladies' Slippers at Home Depot. ;) You can get them in pink or the native yellow. They're pricey though, but worth it.”
