How cool is this?? “CNN) -- For the first time in more than 40 years, scientists have spotted the elegant and endangered snow leopard on the southern slopes of Mount Everest. Doctoral student Som Ale photographed the animal October 24, 2004. He has been studying the animals for many years, both as a biology student at the University of Illinois at Chicago and as an investigator for the research and conservation group Earthwatch Institute. http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/science/05/23/snowleopard/index.html Volunteer: http://www.earthwatch.org/” 8:12:03 AM 5/24/05 “Quick, shoot it!” 8:53:40 AM 5/24/05 “lol, I was thinking the same thing... wonder how much the pelt would be worth?” 8:56:33 AM 5/24/05 “Gotta be pretty lonely to be the last of your species. Like that whale that was on the news recently, wandering around the world, but no response to its calls.” 9:11:50 AM 5/24/05 “It won't last long now that it made the news....” 10:28:05 AM 5/24/05 “Well he had more luck than that guy in the crap book.” 10:42:48 AM 5/24/05 Shameless Plug for a Great Book “If you want to know about the snow leopard then you have to read "The Snow Leopard" by Peter Mathiessen. It's my favorite book. It's trekking in remote parts of Nepal, it's a study of the people there, it's zoology and philosophy, and just a plain great read. I've mentioned it before. I know a few in here have read it. Check it out. last edited: 5/24/05 10:57:25 AM” 10:56:35 AM 5/24/05 “I was in Wal Mart and found Rikki Tikki Tavi on DVD. I had to buy it. The kids looked at me funny because they had never heard of it. So on the way home I told them the story. Kipling was great.” 11:02:05 AM 5/24/05
