Sink or swim? I've never 'lost' a hiker yet. I refuse to have a trip and not get everyone out alive. We've had a few good scares, but hey -- we like to push it pretty hard.

If you are serious.. we will help you prepare, and make sure you do fine.

My friend Bryan is coming also. He has never been backpacking.. never even been hiking.. I got enough equipment, that I'm putting all his stuff together from my extra stuff.

I've got to get to work here though.. so won't be able to post much longer today..

I'd recommend finding the biggest hill in town now and climb it....alot. This trail has some serious elevation gain. You should probably get TD to fax or mail you a copy of the trail profile so that you have an idea what you're getting yourself into. The views will be fabulous though. Gregory BAld has about 26 varieties of wild azalea that will be maybe 1 week before peak bloom when you get there.

woolcap,

Welcome aboard! Dub is the closest TTer to you, but watch him. He will steal your gear and sell it on Ebay!

Go sign up for the West Virginia trip in July. It will be a good trip for you to meet all the crazies!

Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Speaking of trolls. Whatever happened to good ol DizzyDana?

As for playful/woolcap. Troll? Hmm. I was believing you were real until you claimed you were going to hike in a cooler of beer. That's ludicrious! Well unless it's about a mile to your destination.. LOL!

What happened to DizzyDana??

Too many Dizzy's around here.

woolcap, I will be on Roaring Plains, WVa tomorrow.

There will be 5-6 of us.

It is about 30 miles east of Elkins, WVa.
That's under 300 miles from Columbus.......I think.

It is the next up on the Trips Page.

it takes me exactly 4 hrs to get to sugarland visitor center from my house. i bet coming from columbus it could be done in between 5and a half and 6. you just gotta find a fast group to get in the middle of going down 75 through kentucky. usually a cop around georgetown and sitting in the median at either exit 151 or 143 and maybe another at exit 62. other than that put the pedal to the medal.
