Alias

“I know some of you watch it, I've seen it mentioned before - and it's not fair that we have a thread for JJ's newest show, Lost when Alias has been around for 4 years now without a thread. I've seen the first 3 seasons in entirity, and season 4 I caught maybe half of the episodes.

How about the season finale - the cliffhanger just blew me away, I wasn't expecting that - I jumped up off my couch and starting yelling "bullsh*t" at the TV, lol.

Does anybody else watch Alias - any thoughts about last night's episode?”

“yeah, i never got into 24 much, I think the first episode I ever watched was the season finale a couple days ago.”

“i saw the very first ep of alias, liked it, forgot to watch the second ep, and because i hate to watch shows like that out of sequence, i never watched it again. will have to rent the dvds sometime”

“*rent* the DVD's? make sure it's like a month's rental, it takes a while to watch an entire season.

And I don't see how you can like it after the first episode - the pilot was wild, didn't explain anything, the first couple episodes after that were kind of... empty, full of action but just all seemed the same. After that though, the following episodes got me hooked and I had to keep watching - I became addicted.”

“I’ve been renting a series called Tru Calling about a chick that works in a morgue and people who have died before their time ask her for help and she starts her day all over again and she has to try to change fate and save the person. Very cool show. Too bad NBC chitcanned the series.

Next is all the Da Ali G Show disks and then the complete Millennium series.”

I liked the cliffhanger at the end...would have been disappointed without it.

Still waiting for Sloane to get whacked...but regulars don't die easily. Waiting to find out how many more secret relatives there are! (Perhaps Marshall and Sydney are twins?)

I was trying to meet Jennifer Garner to ask if she would like to backpack with us...couldn't get close enough to ask.

One thing I especially like about Alias is that all the characters are interesting and compelling. I hate Sloane, but then you are supposed to loathe him.

When the cast of Alias was at Disney California Adventure in Sept 2003, they gave a fun interview. Jennifer Garner seemed pretty genuine. An old college drama friend of hers was in the audience. When she recognized him she went over backwards in her director's chair from excitement. It was funny.”

ABC released a spoiler that they were going to kill him off in this episode, boy did they drag it out - the crash didn't kill him, and 20 shots to the chest didn't kill him right away - it's all about the dramatic deathbed "i love you" I wouldn't be too surprised though if they brought him back in mid season saying that they man that got killed was a double of vaughn, you know how it all works.”

“Bummer - Alias was my favorite TV show since NYPD Blue ended.

I think because of Jennifer Garner's pregnancy the action level of the show dropped too much.

Also, I think when they keep messing with the time slot it is harder to develop a solid base. Seems like it changed at least once a season.”

“simer - You nailed it!! They used the old "dream state" trick to do it! But they snuck her mother back in and Sark is still around. (Did I miss an episode with Sark dating the new chick?)”

“yeah you did, that was last week, sark and the new chick were in a hotel trying to steal the same info and hooked up... And yeah, her mother was on screen for like one whole second. I was expecting more than a dream sequence though for vaughn's return.

“yeah, she figured it out, later in the episode - I figured they'd use her against him, but they didn't do that either.

“ok, so I answered my own question - I missed the last 5 episodes, somebody should tell me these things.”

“Well, last night was the 2-hour season and series fanale. I missed the explanation of why Vaughn was not dead. He seemed to be pretty dead when he took 20 machine gun bullets to the chest and then when his heart stopped beating in the hospital.

I loved the first four seasons of Alias. This one was not as good.

I liked the characters. I predict they will come back with sequel series featuring some of the old regulars and a new action heroine. Or perhaps Rachel will take over.

“I just watched the series finale, I'm not sure how much I like the ending - didn't really seem to fit the Alias style - it was too, happy "and everybody lived happily ever after" with the hint of a slight future. But it was intense - kinda glad the series is over, but I'll miss it.”

“seriously, I don't think there will be. There was never a huge fan base for alias, and a spinoff would probably have a smaller fan following. But, it wouldn't surprise me either if they attempted something, as they eluded to the fact that things are still going down. And of course, sloane/rambaldi is still alive.”
