just a few weeks away. Looking forward to another weekend in the Smokies. Cades Cove campground will be packed but one thing for sure no one will be on the road while we hike it that evening. Looking forward to my bike ride Sat morning also.

Where's the post hike feast? I have a trip over on the Cherokee side that weekend and might try to drop in Sunday. I'll probably beat a trail home though, but you never know.

DH, to bad you and your family can't make this.

Yep, that'd be a good one. My son starts school for the first time (sniff) and so Fridays are out. We were supposed to go this weekend, but stuff came up. We're heading up there Labor Day weekend though. We'll leave when he gets out of school, get there Fri night and have Sat and Sun to play. We'll be intertubing a good bit one of the days.

I am not getting there until Friday night. Setup camp and relax the rest of the evening. Ride bikes Sat. morning, hike some trails that afternoon, then hike the road Sat night. Dang I will be tired after all of that, better bring a DEW or two

I would have to pull them out of school for a day, otherwise I would bring them. If it were the end of school instead of the beginning, I would think about it.

It will just be CS and I. The kids aren't here that weekend.

Woohoo!

Who's up for a dayhike Saturday?

I can route one out and we can arrange shuttles if necessary. From the campground, the closest loop will be up to Indian Gap Trail. I was up there two weeks ago and the views are somewhat limited by canopy, but still some sweeping views of the Cove and Dry Valley.

If we shuttle, the possibilities really open up. We can hike from Cades Cove to the "Wye". Or...we could just drive to the Wye and swim.....water stays cold there year round.

chili, I will be up for one after I ride my bike around the loop. I had already thought about doing a dayhike.
Ewker

Ok by me. We either go up on Rich Mountain, or go over to Abrams Falls and loop back around through Rabbit Creek.

If we shuttle, the possibilities are pretty much open. Look at the map and let me know what part of the park you want to see.

Rich Mountain is over 3K so it will be somewhat cooler up there. We can water up at CS 5 or 6 on that loop if we need to, but when I was up there, I made the loop on a liter.

Abrams will be heavily visited, but pulling out of there to the west, the crowd will go away. Crossing Abrams Creek will be a snap this time of year.

Or, we could drive up to Tremont and hike back. We just have to shuttle the car that way.

In any event, look at the map and the Brown Book and let me know what you want to do.

Ewker

about 9 miles

Two miles or so up hill....rest is either flat or walking the ridge or working back down hill

I haven't done that loop before so it sounds good to me. Now if you and CS have pick another loop out. After biking the loop around the cove then doing 9 miles I should be ready for a nap then do the night hike
Ewker

Well, I will take you up Counter clockwise.

The climb up crooked arm ridge should give you reason for a nap.

CS will stay in camp and sling #&%!$.

Campsite is in Loop C, and is the one with the Pavilion. There are three group sites in that area, but I did reserve the Pavilion campsite, so it's ours :-) I don't know if it has a number or not, Ewker. I'll check before the 19th.
