i know what you mean, trying to find a pair of hiking pants i like is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. it used to be that all i could find were dumb zip-offs, but the latest trend for women in REI and whatnot right now is capris. everything is capris, capris, capris! and when i say "capris," i use this term loosely b/c what they really look like is retarded slightly-too-short pants. LOL! all i want is some regular hiking pants that aren't old-lady. i'm pretty sure i just need to go to Patagonia and they'll have what i want...it's just so $$$$ there!

Lyra, you aren't kidding. I checked myself... I am short, so caprice are too long for me. LOL

Nothing wrong with us wanting to own some nice hiking pant.

Backslacker...I think I have something like that...I sleep in them.

word! i needed a bathing suit, too. and i became so desperate that i actually ordered one online from Victoria's Secret just now...LOL!! you can tell that's desperation b/c normally you'd think one would want to try a bathing suit on before purchasing it, perhaps. ha!

I hate my pants touching my belly button too. No ring for me either.

I've actually noticed that guys pants have a lower rise than women's, unless of course they are "low rise" style...

maybe not a bad idea to order online this way you can avoid the ugly lighs in the dressing rooms. awwww.....

Gem-- I don't like Capris either... being 5-4" they are "just long enough" vs. "capri length... therefore, they look stupid becaue of how they are cut...

I was just thinking the other day that I'd love to have hiking pants that are "cute" and therefore could do double duty when travelling as "out on the town pants"...
(A little flare is cool with me!)

One of my best friends and I used to complain about "regular length pants"... they always ended up looking like "floods" on her and were always 2-3 inches too long on me....

I am only 5' and have resorted to buying little boys hiking pants because they are the only ones that fit me length-wise. Unfortunately, the stride is really long and the waist comes up practically to my chest and I feel retarded and uncomfortable wearing them. That is why I mostly hike in shorts - even in the winter.
embear

Could you find some that fit except the length and then hem them?

Yah, we're taking two days for the drive. It's more like a big family reunion thing. My grandmother and as many of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids as can make it are coming. We've rented a big beach house and are going to cram as many people as we can into it.

I plan on sitting on the beach, drinking beer, and fishing as much as possible.
