Hi! I'm new here
Hi!
I've posted on "that other board" for a while now, as desert star. I just met Lizsbaby (I take it she posts as Lizs over here from the liitle browsing I've done ?)this afternoon and she asked why I don't post over here. After telling her I didn't "know" anybody over here, I realized that was kind of silly, no? Well anyway here I am!

BTW ~ It was great meeting Lizs (baby), she seems pretty cool, from the little time we hung out, Getting out with her one of these days would be a blast

may be a little quiet on a friday night, except for those of us crying in our beer being at home. Be ready to be challenged as a TROLL!

Nicklebag! A familiar "face" already. How ya doin'?

Nah, not a troll... semi annoying at times I'm sure though. I make no great claims to ability, my gear is crap and I don't get out near as much as I like... but every now and again, I do get out

Welcome DStar. You may not be able to figure it out, but I post on the "other" site as Hyway9 (don't pass it around, I am trying to keep it a secret).

Just came in from a 87 degrees and sunny watergun fight with the wife and kids. That little hoodlum is viscious.

Where on earth is it 80 degrees and sunny!? I want some of that!

Hope it improves this week. I'm off work Tues-Friday, and way overdue for a trip!

Hey, the second I saw it said "Dstar," I thought... hmmmm... could it be???

Yep, she's real, although all you guys are gonna call me a moron cuz I didn't take a picture of us together.

Hey, I saw the cinema across from the GREAT resort (heheee) is called Desert Star. Me thinks you got your name from there!

Friday and Saturday were fun. Prosecutor, Dr. Atomic (now if we can just get HIM to post here -- he'll be on our Upper Iowa trip) and spalpeen/thegriz were there. Still don't know what happened to firebug??!?

I'll have a fun geocaching story here at some point.

Just home and now I need to get to the working part of my weekend. UGH!!! High school graduation, here I come!!!!!

And welcome, Dstar. Next time I roll through (perhaps on time?!?!? LOL!) I'll have to get a photo. :-)

Hey you! Glad you hada good time. One heck of a storm rolled through later that afternoon... I was thinkin' about you guys!
I haven't been there yet, hope you do a trip report... I live vicariously though you lol

NO the name's not from The Big "K"... they are our most evil nemisis. Bitter rivalry thing goin' on with them. It's from a National Geographic pic o' the day... lucked out on that one, could've just as easily been a pic of one of those saggy chested native women they're so fond of photographing... then who would I be?

And she works in the Wisconsin Dells ... otherwise known as "beautiful natural surroundings which draw crowds, now ruined by amusement park-like atmosphere and zoning run amuck)

Yeah, it rained but those shelters are big! So we were inside. And then it was cool to watch the fog and steam in the valleys after the rain... The shelter is on a ridge.

Hey, if you're off Friday, sneak to our Upper Iowa trip for the Friday night shindig and meet some folks. (Can't ya call in sick Sat/Sun? hehehe... Dr. Atomic needs a canoeing partner)

On to this graduation..OMG!! You never saw so much crying and hugging! The speaker had had a girl in the graduation class who was special needs -- who died after maybe a couple years or so in school. She talked about how this class made her daughter feel so welcome and just like she was one of them, and not "special."

When the students went up to get diplomas, most of them hugged her on the way across the stage. Afterward, I heard students talking about PARENTS starting to cry during her speech.

good stuff... BUT IT SUCKS TO COVER IT ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!!

LOL There's still natural beauty, ya just gotta sit in the middle of the river to see it... oh, and look out for the tour boats
Actually there's a couple nice little spots up there but the noise from the Interstate really takes away from them

Wow I'd have bawled like a baby, bet there wasn't a dry eye in the room

Wisconsin Dells use to be a nice place to go.

The Wollersheim Winery was a nice place to stop. If I remember correctly there is a place that makes and sells cheese within a mile of the winery.

Have you tried their Prarie Fume, outstanding (and I'm not even that big on white wines) There's a Carr Valley store in Sauk City, the cheese factory's by LaValle. They give a good tour, lots of samples, and it's a nice drive out there

it has been well over 20 yrs since I was at the winery and cheese factory. The cheese place was out in the middle of no where. They had over 100 different varieties of cheese and one large vat in the back making cheese.

I actually ran across the winery by mistake but still remembered its name. Guess I wore that t-shirt to many yrs..lol
