My last one as a single man one that is....
I think i have two weekends before I am no longer a free man.
The animal in me eyes the map folded on the shelf...pinned to the backdoor of my closet...spread across your desk. Time to hit the woods, find a kickass trail, churn some miles, and gain some altitude.
Where in the southeast would you go, ol married fuddy duddies, before i join your ranks, and have to mow yards, paint shutters, and spend quality time at home.

A summer LeConte trip, an AT section hike, a southern sixer tag??? I have Friday after work till sunday, weigh in folks!

head up to New York and do the Devils Path with us! It is exactly what you are looking for, minus the fact that it would be a major drive.

New York's Devil's Path is good, but if you're looking for something a bit closer to home, give North Carolina's Black Mountain Crest a whirl. Definitely a place worth remembering...

OPIE - take the Lost Cove trip.

You're a brave, brave man to leave town a couple weeks before the wedding. The words of Jean Luc Picard come to mind...."To boldy go where no man has gone before..."

Dayhiker-he's looking for a solo trip to ease his mind before he's a married man!

I don't know Opie, I just checked with an Escort Service and they said they wouldn't send their girls more than 2 miles on a trail. For the bachelor party hike, maybe you oughtta stick with an urban trek to Deja Vu complete with lap dances.

...Michelle won't read this, right?

Oh the poor uneducated youth. What has our country come to when an Icon like Captain James T. Kirk is so quickly forgotten

A Gregory BAld loop hike would be good since the azaleas will be in bloom. Be careful which weekend you go since Chris is having a full on party up there one weekend:D

your post is troubling my young padwan
if you feel that your life will change in a manner that will make you sad that you have made a change, then there is only doom in your future. Miss not what you have lost, you must give up the feeling of loss, then the force will be strong in you and the dark side shall not take root in your being. Only by following the ways of the force will you become whole and be at peace.

Mourn not for your loss, but rejoice for your gains.

Much Success and Happiness to you and your bride!!!

Opie, do a solo on the Black Mountain Crest Trail. Start at Black Mountain Camp Ground at the base of Mt. Mitchell, climb the 3600 feet to the summit of Mitchell and then hike north on the Black Mountain Crest Trail for 4.5 miles (over three southern sixers) and camp in Deep Gap. Next day hike back. Awesome hike and when it is all done, you will have tagged four sixers and gained over 6000 feet of gain in 20 miles.

I'd do the trip TD is doing, but do it the 17-18. Azaleas should be at peak. Since you'd get an elevation trip that weekend, the one before I'd go for creeks. #47 on the NC would be ideal. Offtrail creek exploring. There is a folder in my webshots called Enloe Crk that has pics of the area. It's spectacular.

I still think the azaleas will peak on Gregory toward the end of June.

But, Opie, if it were me, I would probably do the section between Clingman's and Fontana.

You guys have this all wrong...you tell your lady that you're going hiking, then accidentally end up at Myrtle Beach watching bikinis and drinking beer for 2 or 3 days. Of course, you must wear the same clothes for 3 days so they'll pass the "sniff" test when you get back. Experience is the best teacher.

LOL @ mds hiker...
deceptions are a way to the dark side...take THAT from experience.

Opie, follow your heart and may the force be with you.

The best way for two people considering marriage to stay happy is for the guy to plan a myrtle beach strip club weekend and tell the woman that if she doesn't like it she can just suck it, and the its of all the guys going.
