It's thundering
Big storm hit central PA.

It's thundering like crazy right over the house! Big rain storm on the way...

Help! Somebody please just hold me.

A storm is rolling into Oak Ridge, TN, right now, too. One of my cats has taken cover under the bed (she hates storms). Wanna hold her?

Speaking of cats - it's now raining cats and dogs.

Anyone know where that expression comes from without looking it up?

(I only know b/c I looked it up a while ago)

We had major storms here yesterday. I was driving down the road comming into a small town and seen two white columns going up in the sky. At the base was all this white stuff rolling around. They were not like the tornados you see in the movies but it was pea green in between them and I decided not to drive threw it. I pulled into a convience store just as the tornado sirens went off. I asked the lady behind the counter what they were to do in case of a tornado and she said to go in the restroom. On a good day you could get 4 in there and there was about 15 of us in the store. We opted for the cooler. I did not want the resue squad to find my dead body under a pile of CRAP from the RR. The tornados went over the building and never touched down. When they say is sounds like a freight train they are right. In fact it sounds like you are right by the train. No one got hurt and very little damage right there but it scared the heck out of me. No one held me. There were a couple youg ladies that I would have liked to held onto. Isn't it bad that we think of those things even in the face of danger!

Well Sarge, you may want to disconnect your electronic stuff in case of a lightning strike/power surge.

Which means they'll be in my area in a couple of hours.

I guess I won't be climbing the ladder with that long metal pole in my hand when I get home after all.

For Sarge
In the old days....

Houses had thatched roofs-thick straw-piled high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the cats and other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and off the roof.

Hence, "It's raing cats and dogs."

Yes stanlee. I was hoping somebody would know "without looking it up" from a site like this:

but thanks for playing ... ; )

I knew the origins of that phrase awhile back.....but the "cut and paste" paragragh is more articulate.

Where are you at in New York? You must be close to the NJ border.

Yeah, there were some pretty evil squalls moving across Union County NJ this afternoon...
