if we can't do it in the winter, we'll do it in the fall.

you remind me of...
the dude that got his butt whomped by Mr Miagi. He who touts his own horn prior to learning the tunes is a fool.

no horn tooting here. Just looking forward to trying this trail again. In March we attempted it, but the snow was too deep and the mileage to excessive for the conditions so we had to bail. Come September, the conditions should be ideal for such a trek in the woods.

Eh......ENS is a hikin' fool, but no fool!!

And just how does one go about "touting" one's horn?

Is that something like braggin' about one's schlong?

I must be a fool because I can't see a hint of where ENS is tooting or touting.

A most humble fellow, to be sure!

Though he does seem to be a bit touched what with his wildman long distance hikes.

Dont know. Ask stikmon. It was just rescheduled from earlier in the year. Its not a hard trip at all. I cant wait to go back up there.

Crazy, where exactly in Pa is it. Give me a town close by. I still need to get up to that area for a trip

It's not a very hard trail at all. There is a good long climb up to the top of the Plateau, but once you're up there, it's fairly level going with some minor ups and downs. In the winter when we attempted it, there was two feet of snow on the ground and it was powder and the temps got down to neg 10 during the night.

It's one of Pennsylvania's prettiest trails. The hardest part will be the mileage, which will be about 15 miles per day, so not too bad.

Ewker, if you want to do a good hike in PA, this is the hike to do. Very scenic trail with lots of views into the Canyon.

We will finish in the town of Wellsboro, but we will start in the town of Blackwell. Both of those towns make good searches. The town of Wellsboro is the larger town.

Very awesome section of Pennsylvania.

Blackwell is the closest town to where we started. This would be the one worth going on if you can get up this way.

Hey Ewk, Wellsboro or Ansonia are the closest towns. I did Barbour rock a couple weeks ago. It was lovely. The leaves were not quit full so the views were spectacular. Also the trail gets to be about this far:

Ewker, the best airport would be Harrisburg international. That is a half hour from me and I could pick you up and deliver you to the trailhead.

I looked at flights up to Harrisburg and there is a few to get there early on Friday. Biggest problem is finding a return flight that leaves late on Sunday

It's 493 miles for us. I'm trying to talk Birch into it. He's not crazy about the idea of hiking 13 miles out and then driving 7-8 hours. I am determined. ;) I may have to duct tape him in the car and pack his gear myself.....

Also have to get a babysitter. That's the real roadblock. Will be asking the grammas today.

EWK...
If you catch a plane to Newark-Liberty (EWR), I'll take you over. And you should be able to get a pretty late flight back, as it's one of the busiest airports on the East Coast...

Amen to the diffucult hike in the snow. Me and RedOctober (remember us) hiked the entire trail the weekend after you guys were there. We were assured by a ranger that the trail was broken by snow shoes and we need not bring them. Post-holing in the snow for all those miles definately ranks as toughest hike ever. Very pretty though with the snowy canyon. Maybe I'll see if I can make the trip if thats ok. I live in Altoona, PA.

i have an uncle and aunt and bunch 0f cousins still there. they lived in the town proper for many years but have moved to the outskirts within the last 10.

my uncle, chip johnston, owned a carpet store on rt 6 just on the west side of town. he also owned 1 or 2 carwashes and some storage units. the one carwash was there when you come in past the old merganthaler place on route 6 east of town, and one over towards mansfield (i think).

I am now a confirmed yes for this mo-fo! Just had to tell the wife where I would be this weekend.

I am from way out of town and am going to need directions. Also, I am taking Friday off because of the drive. I will get to the campsite (total guess) around 5ish. Shall I hump in some beer?

I am still a maybe. I sent PS a email about the trip. Just trying to work out where to fly into.

What town is everyone coming from. Maybe there is a flight into and departing that town that might work.
