Geo to the death?
I'm headed out tomorrow to do this cache
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=3d1b204f-cb63-4dcb-a809-8d33c04e83a4

I'll be rapelling (which I've NEVER done) and some other things I've never done although my support person isn't giving up any of the finer details. The rapelling alone is scary to me....so if y'all never hear from me again I want you to know how much better you've made my days at work.

If I am successful I'll be cleaning my drawls out.

Flame on.

Pack a poise pad!
Carlette, you'll be good. Rapelling isn't scarey once you get over the edge. It'll be a blast!

Rapelling isn't scarey once you get over the edge.

But it's scarey as you cannot imagine getting over the edge the first time!

Thanks Sass...theres another part of the multi where I"ll be suspended from under a bridge...HOLY CRAP I'm So EXCITED!! I wanna go right NOW..death or not!!!

That first time is what I'm worried about Sarge...I can feel my adrenaline pumping already just thinking about it...

Remember, falling off a cliff never killed anyone. It's that sudden stop at the bottom you have to worry about.

Rapelling is a blast... you would know that if they allowed girls in Boy Scouts :D Doesn't every oy scout go rapelling at least once in his life?

I can imagine, I've done it Sarge.

It's not that bad. Just remember you are in control of how fast you go, lower your hips level with your feet (way lower than yopu feel is necessary or feels comfortable!) and go.

lower your hips level with your feet (way lower than yopu feel is necessary or feels comfortable!)

And way lower than feels natural. That's because it's not natural. That fear you are sensing is a natural reaction to an unnatural act. It's your minds way of saying "Hey, this is very dangerous. You might die here. Maybe you should reconsider."
Sarge

rope ladders are not fun either, esp when they are on an angle and can flip over

Sarge, you're scaring the kids!

It's gonna be so much fun Carlette, don't worry about it. Dhutch does it all the time and she's terrified of heights!

It's a blast!

After the firs time down, climb up as fast as you can.

Don't hardly stop to catch your breath.

Do it again and again and then you're hooked.

You're ready to hop off an overhang.

I dislike heights...not quite as bad as snakes...but...I figure after the first go round I'll be ok.

I'm assuming I shouldn't wear my crocs for this right?>>>lol

Make sure your instructor is qualified.

DO NOT EVER rappel without your prussik.

If no-one shows you or knows what a prussik is DO NOT RAPPEL.

That first step is the doozy. After that, it's all downhill. A good instructor will talk you through it and you will not have time to be afraid.
Geobeet

Although, being afraid isn't necessarily a bad thing. We sense fear for a reason. It's our mind's way of saying "Hey! Carlette! Whatcha think your doin'? You could get hurt doin' that!" It's also our bodies way of getting us on our toes and keeping us alert.

The adrenaline can be very useful. In primitive man it was used for retreating and fighting off sabertooth tigers. In modern man it's used for quickly clicking on another window when the boss walks in from behind and for zipping up when the wife walks in. In your situation you might utilize that adrenaline for running away from the cliff.

Fear is your friend. Complacency is your enemy. If your instructor tells you to look in his/her eyes instead of looking down, ask yourself "Does this dude expect complacency? What qualifications does he have? Am I really in good hands here?"

Sarge...I'm pushin the envelope man. Its a done deal. I question whether I'm in "good hands" driving most days...and I'm the driver. If ya always follow the fear you don't do squat.

Ya know someone’s arsenal is running low when all they are left to complain about is a person’s need to urinate.

When do impeachment proceedings begin?

"Nigal - come on, you might have noticed some other stuff going on right now?”

That only makes it even sillier. I don't care for W and think he's a doofus too. It's just retarded the way everyone has to lash out and hate for the dumbest reasons.

Par for the idiot left course...

Try this
Go to google.com, type the word "failure" in the search box, press the "I'm feeling lucky" button. I laughed, I cried, I'm still crying.
