Snack Mix Etiquette

“I'm friggen bored here at my desk today.
So...
Snack Mix....My wife just made a huge batch of Chex Mix. It's got everything but the kitchen sink in it. All I want to eat is the Cheese Nips and dried fruit.
I get hollered at by my wife whenever I pick out my fav stuff.
How about you? Do you pick out the "good" stuff, or do you eat it by the handful?

In lieu of the first thought that sprang into my demented mind, how about this: Go buy a box of Cheese Nips and some of your favorite dried fruit, and mix that in with what she already prepared. Then, when you're done picking out what you like, it will probably be about the same as when you started.”

“Each Christmas, my fatherin--law's sister sends him a tin of mix nuts. My father-in-law picks out the cashews. He gets really ticked when my brother-in-law shows up and finishes off the cashews before father-in-law gets his fill. LOL!!!!”

A. Take a small handfull, thanking your buddy and leave it up to fate, the numer of M&M's you got on your pull?

B. Be a total slob and pick and sift through the gorp for all the chocolate goodies, leaving the host with his arm extended out, and his other reaching for a trekking pole to stab you with?

C. Take a handfull, jamming it in your piehole and spitting back out the nasties you don't particularly favor back in the ziplock?

“I was in Africa visitin the Ivory Coast 14 yrs ago and got the chance to go on Safari.(sort of) We took the bb and pellet guns from the camp directors office and shot fruit bats out of the cashew tree's around the compound. The native kids would follow us around and scoop them up. When we returned to camp we were told the kids throw them in the fire, whole, then peel back the skin and eat em when they were done. MMMMMM BBQ Fruit Bat...couldn't quite bring myself to eat that.”

“Stovie..did you see that special on PBS regarding the Brazil Nut Trees? They could not figure out how the nuts got distributed along the forest floor. So they cut a seed pod in half and glued tiny bits of metal to the actual Brazil Nuts inside. They then glued the thing back together and waited.
A rodent (can't remember its name) chews the pod to get the seeds out then buries them around the area of the tree. The scientists used a metal detector to find the seeds. The special was a segment of the Nature program that I watched with my daughter one night, very cool stuff.”

“I think my snack mix contains more m&m's and reese's pieces and pretzels than nuts. It's probably not that good for you, but it's energizing in a crunch.”

“Scientifically, Each similar bit has the same mass and density, Ie .. m&m's or Brazil nuts. If given the proper shake, like bits tend to congregate. thusly one can maximize the number of favorites by aiming at the proper Ziplok "zone" . This greatly reduces the need to pick.”

When I was a kid my siblings used to rat on me for dunking my PB&J sandwiches in my milk because my mom objected. I swore that when I grew up I would not take sh** off of anyone for dunking my sandwiches. When I was about 35 for Christmas my sister got a shirt made special for me saying, "BORN TO DUNK".”

“When I worked with the kids the rules were simple, you could pick through your hand full, but not through the bag.

One of the kids was outed during the middle of the night by a skunk. My partner and I woke to screams coming from one of the tents, when we got to it we found the kid, laying on his back with a skunk sitting on his chest.

The kid had fallen asleep and the skunk was going through the his gorp that he left next to him after eating all the M&M's out of it. Hell of a way to wake up, LOL
