Hope Y'all Like It...
Well it's been 6 looong months but the effort has paid off, imo, as the parts banjo I put together is finally complete. The pics don't do it justice as my camera doesn't seem to want to capture color as it truely is (ie, abalone inlay looks much colorful, stain color looks, well, better in person), but here are pics nonetheless.

The neck and resonator are curly maple with dark-brown and vintage amber stain combo. Fingerboard is ebony with MOP and abalone custom inlay pattern. Peghead inlay is a trilobite, a pre-historic shallow-marine critter, and signifies my degree(s) in Geology. The back of the peghead inlay design was taken from a pic of me in the early 80's and signifies my previous love for that activity...the inlay material I used is MOP, Abalone, light-green Soapstone, red Pipestone, Ebony and Aluminum. The resonator has an ebony inlay with which I used my hiking boot sole as the pattern. Tuners are all Gotoh, tailpiece is a Kirchner, MOP nut, Remo frosted head, Pass birch Thinskirt rim, cryo Tenn20 tonering and Desert Rose Elite Z bridge.

Here is a link to more pics...

And here are some posted pics...

Great! Beautiful. Can't imagine doing something like that.

I especially like the boot print on the back--it suggests the irony of placing a boot on the back of such a fine and delicate instrument!

Still wanna hear some tunes associated with your post--play it!

Now that is stunningly beautiful...I love the inlaid, skateboarding you and the trilobite is a nice, personal touch...I've always been fond of trilobites but have yet to see them on any musical intrument...LOL..question, in the front, what is on the lower, left side of the body..it looks like something inlaid with green..I'm not really familiar with banjo lingo so don't know what you call it..it looks like a hand rest, I think...

So, does it sound as good as it looks?

Simply breath-taking!

I'm really impressed!

It would be cool it you could make some recording so we can hear it play!

There's tons of music festivals out here in Colorado.. you should try to get out here to some of them and enjoy the mountains while you out here!

She Is Sounding Bright And Loud
Thanks for all the kind words.

Maybe someday, if I ever have the capability, I'll post some sound files of it...but I don't have that capability so it may be a while.
