Any suggestions for the best bug repellant for mosquitos? Any specific brands that are best?

I've been using a 33% DEET product the last few years. Its a the lowest concentration that seems to work. The only problem I've had is DEET can dissolve synthetic fabrics (it ate through a corner of my pack), and some folks have negative side effects to it. I might try one of the newer products thats come on the market in the last few years - picaridan, permethrin, and lemon eucalyptus oil. Look on REI's website for all of them.

I've been using Repel's Lemon Eucalyptus with pretty good results, although it doesn't last as long as DEET.

Avon's is Skin so Soft. It's the texture apparently.

Permethrin works great on ticks, fleas, chiggers, deer flies, etc. but does not work that well on mosquitos. DEET is about the only sure thing that really works on mosquitoes. I use the 100% solution and just dab a touch on my hat or pant legs. You don't need to hose down with the stuff.

Permethrins are used in Advantix for dogs to protect against ticks, fleas, lice and mosquitos. It can cause some safety hazards for pets that use it.

Deet is the way to go, the more the better though it's not supposed to be good for you.

Skin So Soft is supposed to be a barrier protection, because it coats your skin with I guess an impenatrable layer of gunk, but I don't think it's that effective.

Try doing a google search for "holistic" or "natural" mosquito repellents for dogs. I've seen people say they use citronella shampoo, but there are other things you may find.

I sat between two citronella tiki lanterns in my yard and still got bit!
