How do y'all pack SLR's?View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 7 of 7 messages posted.
“Hello all, I am a new guy learning the process, I have found tons excellent info on this site so far. Right now I am wondering how y'all pack your SLR cameras on day hikes and overnights. Thanks! SBE Knoxville, TN” 10:07:57 PM 6/11/05 “Lowepro Topload with chest harness. The chest harness is comfortable and it's real easy to get at your camera. They have different sizes depending on your camera setup.” 11:04:54 PM 6/11/05 “I just wrap my F5 in a fleece jacket and put it in my pack with everything else. Accessories go in a separate stuff sack, and my Gitzo either goes inside or strapped to the outside depending upon which pack I'm using.” 11:07:25 PM 6/11/05 “Sorry for tagging on, but I almost posted the same question a few days ago but didn't. I use a non-SLR digital camera and want it handy when I hike. Don't use zoom lens of anything like that. What's the handiest way to carry your camera w/o it getting in the way. I want it easily accessible when hiking, but I want to be assured it won't fall out of whereever it's stored. Right now I tie it to the pack and have it in my front or side pocket. What do you guys do? last edited: 6/11/05 11:18:56 PM” 11:18:33 PM 6/11/05 “i used to carry mine in a pocket on the waist belt. i ran a piece of chord from my pack to the wrist strap on my camera. always at hand, can't fall to the ground. easy to detach.” 8:39:02 AM 6/12/05 “I agree with pennsy. I have a Lowepro top loader w/ chest harness that can carry my camera w/ my wide angle 18-35 and my 28-300 lenses. I put it on first then my backpack. Great for fast pace day hikes or multiday backpacks.” 6:42:49 PM 6/12/05 “also, there are smaller top loaders if you don't need all that room.” 6:57:26 PM 6/12/05
