SPAM® Museum to Host Official “SPAMILY™ Reunion” Celebration Father’s Day Weekend Famous TV “Dads,” Entertainment for All Ages Make it a One-of-a-Kind SPAMILY™ Celebration Austin, Minn. (insert date) – One big, happy SPAMILY™ – composed of generations of people who love the SPAM® family of products – will gather at the SPAM® Museum in Austin, Minn., on Saturday, June 18, for fantastic food, festive entertainment, and flat out fun for all ages. The 2005 SPAM® Museum Jam, hosted by Hormel Foods Corporation, will bring communities, families, and friends together to celebrate SPAM®, a beloved food (and a family tradition) in America and around the globe. The event is the second official SPAM® Museum Jam celebration; it follows the June 2002 museum grand opening that paid tribute to both World War II veterans and classic Americana, drawing thousands of visitors from the local area and beyond. The 2005 SPAMILY™ Reunion will feature three of television’s favorite “dads” – Jim Belushi of ABC-TV’s “According to Jim,” Tom Bosley of the classic “Happy Days” series, and Kurtwood Smith of FOX-TV’s “That ‘70s Show.” The “dads” – known on their shows as Jim, Howard Cunningham, and Red Forman, respectively – will entertain guests, sign autographs, and provide tips and quips about fatherhood. Belushi also will perform live music with his band, The Sacred Hearts (of Blues Brothers fame). In addition, the world-famous Hawaiian chef, Sam Choy, will greet guests and serve SPAM™ Musubi, a Japanese-inspired sushi roll beloved in Hawaii and rapidly gaining popularity across the rest of the country. Choy, an award-winning restaurateur, best-selling cookbook author and television personality, educates people the world over about the diverse cultures and flavors that cumulate in Hawaii, including the SPAM® family of products. Musical entertainment will include Big Band-era hits by Guy Lombardo’s Royal Canadians with Al Pierson. Austin’s own Alice Holst will fulfill her lifelong dream by performing with the band. Other acts include the Midwest’s top vocal group, Tonic Sol-fa (described in The New York Times as a “vocal kaleidoscope”), and the SPAM™ Jingle Singers, sharing SPAM™ jingles of yesteryear – freshened up for a modern audience. The Melismatics, a pop band fronted by Ryan Smith and winner of the 2004 “Best Rock Recording Minnesota Music Award” for their “New Infection” recording, also will perform. - more - SPAM® Museum Jam 2005…page 2 The line-up of special attractions includes fun for the whole family, from Bill Nye the Science Guy and eagles from the National Eagle Center to the SPAM™ “Pignic” Grounds, the site of an array of tasty treats, such as SPAM® pancakes and scrambled eggs, SPAM® fajitas, pulled-pork sandwiches and Hormel® hot dogs.
